The Lyrics

This a lament by Chrissie Hynde when she learned that Rush Limbaugh used the intro of " My City Was Gone" as the introductory theme to his talk show
I went back on the radio
But things were very wrong
There's this AM station
Where my lyrics were gone
My message had disappeared
All my favorite stanzas
My song was a bass line
For some bagger .. propa ..ganda
Hey, ho .. Way to go, El Rushbo

I went stark ranting psycho
That my melody was used
As a theme for a talk show
And right winger, too
I was shocked and amazed
My SEN-sibilities
Left me aghast
I was weak thru my knees
Hey, ho .. way to go El Rushbo

I struck back at El Rushbo
With some pretty legalese
Full of cease and desisting
From a barrister who dint say "Please"
We came to agreement
To avoid a legal brawl
Just pay a bribe to PETA*
One hundred thou should cover it all
Hey, ho .. way to go, El Rushbo

*Chrissie Hynde definitely had a cause of action against Limbaugh, but settled on Rush making a 100K donation to PETA ... basically because her Dad was a big fan of Rush

Good thing I've received 21 TU in a mere 8 viewings .. I can now lend about 14 of those to Porfle Popnecker. He did this same parody 12 years ago. I completely changed the first stanza, tweaked the second and made a major improvement in the third with, "By a barrister who dint say please" ..... The "By a government that had no pride" line is one of the signature lines in the song; you gotta nail that one
