Parody Song Title:

"You're Gonna Be Sedated"

Parody Written by:

Jeff Reuben

The Lyrics

With cameo vocals from Arwen
Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
You're gonna be sedated!
Don't wanna feel that tooth getting pulled
You're gonna be sedated

Just get into the op chair
We'll put you right to sleep
You won't have to worry
Cause you'll be counting sheep
You will not feel my scalpel
While I work on your teeth
Oh no no no no no!

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
You're gonna be sedated!
Don't wanna feel that tooth getting pulled
You're gonna be sedated

Relax while you're in my care
I'm telling you the tooth
If you still feel worried
I'll pour in some vermouth
I've done this quick procedure
From Dallas to Duluth oh no no no no no

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
You're gonna be sedated!
Don't wanna feel that tooth getting pulled
You're gonna be sedated

The gas will kick in shortly
Your mouth will get so numb
You might lose all your teeth but
You still might have your gums
Get to the root of this mess
Before the song is done oh mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm

Arwen singing back:
"Wah-wah-wah-wah wah-wah-wah-wah-wah I wanna be sedated
Wah-wah-wah-wah wah-wah-wah-wah-wah I wanna be sedated
Wah-wah-wah-wah wah-wah-wah-wah-wah I wanna be sedated
Wah-wah-wah-wah wah-wah-wah-wah-wah I wanna be sedated"

So very close to my heart, Jeff! I love it! Almost as much as I love being sedated!!

Great parody, JR. But I think TOS was made in the 70's.

Caused by a blietzkrieg POP I'm sure...

Tim, you're right. Song came out in 1978. I saw a bunch of parodies to the same song in the "80s" branch of this site, so I didn't bother to notice the other bunch in the 70s. Arwen and K1...thanks!

I can't believe I haven't commented on this. I really am a biotch. It's superb, Jeff! I'd throw in some toothy puns, but Arwen would call them lame-ass...
Stuart McArthur - January 07, 2005 - Report this comment
"I'm telling you the tooth" is definitely Reubenesque - and rhyming vermouth with it, ahh! Arwen WAS scared so just be dental with her, Mr Platinum - 555

DKTOS, but great!

Don't byte the digit that sedates you - just nybble it. 555 mg of xylophone. Much better vibes than xylocaine.

(SOTM) DKTOS, although something tells me that I should.
Scathe - February 08, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) The parody succeeds in everything except sedating me.

Thank you Guy, Scathe, and JD (and everyone else I missed!)

(SOTM) This parody has teeth!

(SOTM) I feel cheated that you didn't change 'twenty twenty twenty four hours to go' into something Rubenesque, but still a parody with bite, dental as anything, rinse and repeat.
Jeff Reuben - February 09, 2005 - Report this comment
Luke...good catch, I left one on the table there. Ag...thanks!

(SOTM) DKTOS...good read, though.

Stuart said what I was gonna say (the tooth and vermouth part anyway). So: what he said. This was a gas.

Well done, Jeff. I liked the vermouth and the gums lines best.

Tooth/Vermouth/Duluth is classic. And your Arwen imitiation is perfect. Heh heh.

This rules, bro. And that's the tooth. Claude said what I was gonna say about what Stuart said. Right up there with "Numb me, Drill me, Floss me, Bill me" :cB

I loved the "I'm Telling You The Tooth" line (Classic Jeff Reuben punning!!!) I don't know what Arwen has to do with this parody (Perhaps you were just name dropping to get brownie points from our princess, but she's usually involved in clumbsy parodies, and not about pulling teeth...)
Jeff Reuben - August 08, 2008 - Report this comment
Thanks Matthias...Arwen was getting teeth pulled when I wrote this parody, so she was part of the inspiration. And I'm always looking to get bumped by Arwen :)
Max Power - August 10, 2008 - Report this comment
Should be used on Fred Phelps

(Artistry) An oldy moldy...now I wish more had been done with the "twenty-twenty-twenty" and the choruses. Lots of fun, though.
bobpiecheese - August 20, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) Could've used some chorus variation, but otherwise this was nice for such an oldie. Have some 5's before I pass out...woah...*thud!*
Rex - August 20, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) This is one of those parodies that I think would make a great video. Incisor sharp wit.
Below Average Dave - August 21, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) I think this would work well as a recording, as a write it was pretty funny. Not a whole lot I can add to it. No real killer lines for me, but just really well rounded. . .which for me works.
Invisible Boy - August 21, 2008 - Report this comment
Great job Jeff. All of the good "tooth" puns have been used already in the comments.
So...brace yourself for some 5s. I can't brush this one aside. Your wisdom as a writer is clear. It's filling me with laughter.
I laughed out loud at "Duluth"
