I was hoping for more science jokes or puns. All I got out of it is that someone writes song parodies about science. I guess I'd rather hear one of the parodies she's written =) Good pacing though.
I need to know more about the subject before I can object.
I concentrated more on the pacing, rhyme, and rhythm of this one than on jokes or any kind of story-plot.....this one was, for me, an enjoyable exercise in word-play and syllable-rhythm. My idea was that she writes parodies with a kind of "scientific expertise" --- that when she constructs parodies, she uses a scientific approach that results in them being hilariously funny......guess I could take a lesson from my fictional parody-expert in this particular case!
Johnny D., You're one step ahead of me -- I'd read Jeff's comment in the new comments section, earlier, and, after reading and rating, was going to comment that I'd interpreted "with science" the way you describe and ask which you meant, if either. Having read it the way I did, I thought it was really good and I preferred this one slightly over the other. If I'd read it the other way, though, I'd be in agreement with Jeff.

I really like this one. I got a definite mental image of old lady librarians in control freak mode scowling at every little sound. Very good indeed!

It was those librarians shushing everyone that got me confused. This one is good but I definately liked the librarian one much better. I spent the entire time reading this trying to figure out who you were talking about. I have done several ones on the subject of 'Science' and since I'm not a 'she', at least I wasn't the last time I checked, and I'm not part of the Merry and Pippin team, I got to the end and kind of felt a let down. Still well done even though it is completely generic.

I'm sorry you felt a let down, Guy ... I wasn't talking about any real person at all - to borrow a word from your comment, she is indeed a "generic" and purely fictional character. I guess you could say that this parody is simply an experiment I wanted to try using various syllabic rhythm combinations and alliterative phrasings.
Read it again. This is why I avoid two parodies of same song. One is always going to be better. And it's t'other one. (I know, they're both still your children)
JD - Don't get me wrong. I did like it. And I can see what you were doing with it. I have done generic parody myself and got the same results. Don't sweat it. You are a fine writer.
Thanks Rick, and thanks Guy. I just had two different ideas for the same song, and I thought it would be more fun if I got them both out of my head and onto the screen at the same time...so what if one's better than the other? That's the only way I'm going to hone my craft.

Thanks, a. This parody's just a little fantasy about a fictional female parody writer who is so incredibly talented and skilled at making people laugh at her brilliant parodies that she has elevated parody-writing to a science - hence the title of the parody.

The very last line, "and makes us laugh until we pee," should be cut off, as in the original, "She blinded me with." Otherwise, it fits the pacing perfectly and of course matches the actual lyrics.
