Song Parodies -> "Librarians Want Silence"

Original Song Title:

"She Blinded Me With Science"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Thomas Dolby

Parody Song Title:

"Librarians Want Silence"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

It's not up for discussion
It's just the way it's always been
There will be repercussions
If you create the slightest din
Librarians want silence
"Librarians - want silence!"
So shut your mouth and come on in

When I have to clear my throat
"They say to be silent - silent!"

I can feel them glare at me
"They say to be silent - silent!"

"SILENCE !"

There ain't no use in fussin'
And when they get that angry look
You better stop your cussin'
Profanity they will not brook
Librarians want silence
"Librarians - want silence!"
Or they might bean you with a book

When I fail to stop my sneeze
"They say to be silent - silent!"

"SILENCE !"

When I break a tiny breeze
"They say to be silent - silent!"

"SILENCE !"

It's not up for discussion
It's just the way it's always been
So take your Robitussin
'Cause coughing is an evil sin
Librarians want silence
"Librarians - want silence!"
Don't talk - don't breathe - don't even grin

(short instrumental interlude)

"Good heavens this racket must go - it's TOO brutal !"

(short instrumental interlude)

"I don't believe it!
There they go again!
We said shut up - but I can HEAR them talking!
They're a stupid choir
Of noisy goats!"

And motormouth percussion -

It's not up for discussion
And now they're taking aim at me
They'll give me a concussion
And then stars will be all I see
Librarians want silence
"Librarians - want silence!"
They threw that book and silenced me!

I'm with Jeff. I understood and related to this one. More and more people act just like they're at home when they go to the library or a movie. And it's usually not a home you want to visit.

Hang my chad with everyone else's -- nice job, Johnny D.

(Whispering) psst -hey Johnny. I really liked this one.

Just then the Ferengi eared librarian looks up and scowls at me with an index finger on one hand perpendicular over her lips and her other hand on the keyboard very quickly and silently typing in three ones. Oops sorry.

Great parody. Loved it.

I got a definite mental image of control freak old lady librarians scowling at the slightest sound that breaks the roaring silence. You know you've done your job as a parody writer when you can create this type of activity in the mind of the reader. Well done indeed.

As someone who works in a library, I must say it is nothing like this lol

I can believe that with you there Billy. I'm comin' to your library next time I need to use one. I get nightmares from dealing with those 'library ladies'. :D

Thanks for telling me about this parody, JD. I read your response comment last night, and was going to come and take a look at this parody, but I was tired. So this morning I was going to check it out, but the server was down again...and I tried back several times during the day, but I couldn't get on! Well, here I am now, reading this great parody, about to give it fives in each category!

You're Wecome, Johnny D. I've been trying to think of a good pardoy for this song forever. I don't think I'll be able to top this one, though.

Clever, I love it. Like redant, I am envious of your abilities of writing good parodies. How long have you been doing this?
Johnny D - April 20, 2005 - Report this comment
Thank you, Dominic, that's very kind of you. I've been doing this since the 1970's, when I started writing parodies of songs from various musical comedies I was performing in.
