The Lyrics

Tipping my hat to the Poodle Hat tour for my 25th parody. :)
Hey, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I love a polka, I love parodies
You can call me a fan, got eight Weird Al CDs
But I'm an Aussie, and I hated to say
That I couldn't go see the Weird One play

Al comes to town, you know I've got to go
When Al comes to town, you know I'll catch that show
Maybe I'm not rich enough to throw cash 'round
But I'll fork out the bucks when Weird Al comes to town

I was content to be a Weird Al fan
Started writing parodies when I found that I can
Though I never believed that he'd fly on down
But my spirits brightened when Weird Al came to town

Rushed to get my tickets when I heard about the show
The seats were pretty good, centered in a decent row
As the music played, it turned my frown upside down
That was the day when Weird Al came to town

When Al comes to town, you know I've got to go
When Al comes to town, you know I'll catch that show
Maybe I'm not rich enough to throw cash 'round
But I'll fork out the bucks when Weird Al comes to town

When Al comes to town, you know I've got to go
When Al comes to town, you know I'll catch that show
Maybe I'm not rich enough to throw cash 'round
But I'll fork out the bucks when Weird Al comes to town

I was there as he sang each parody
I met the Weird One and he signed my DVD
I bought a shirt, Couch Potato black
But I have to wait now till he comes back

When Al comes to town, you know I've gotta go
When Al comes to town, you know I'll catch that show
Maybe I'm not rich enough to throw cash 'round
But I'll fork out the bucks when Weird Al comes to town

Hey, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Aussie, big applause for managing to do this song! I too am a fan of Weird Al as well as U2 so I enjoyed it. Good work.

Most of us here are fans. Whenwe saw him at the House of Blues, he pulled prop underwear out of his pant and threw it to Mari. Later backstage, he autographed it and it hangs proudly on our wall. We started out together on the Dr. Demento show, he went there, I went here.

Hey, one of you guys didn't vote? Hmmph! *g* Kidding aside, the coolest thing about this parody is I didn't have to make any of it up. By a nice stroke of luck, Weird Al was at a DVD signing in a HMV store earlier in the afternoon on the same day I had tickets to see him in concert, so I still managed to meet him and shake his hand despite not having backstage access at the show. Also met Steve Jay before the show while we were waiting outside the theatre for the doors to open, so overall it was a pretty cool day.
