he today's Finnish Parachute Rangers, "lingonberries", are the descendants of the LRRPs. They are the cream of the crop of the Finnish forces, and everyone gets not only normal ranger and guerrilla training, but also full survival training, including one week survival course in the Finnish winter without supplies. Needless to say, they have a reputation being slightly eccentric.

Parachute Rangers are used the same way as LRRPs or Commandos: to do reconnaissance, to do guerrilla or commando strikes, or to seize important places, terrain, logistics knots, bridges, islands or form airheads for the airborne infantry (yes, we do have them too). They are dropped 50-300 km behind the enemy lines, and are expected to ski, walk, run or to steal a vehicle and ride to own lines.

Most Parachute Rangers are ex-athletes, who quite didn't make it to professionals. My father applied to Parachute Rangers, but didn't make through the admittance tests. He instead enlisted in the Combat Engineers.
