The Lyrics

Old man - there's no need to feel down
I said - old man, get yourself in the group
I said - old man, 'cause your visit a new town
There's no need to be pay to much

Old man - there's a place you can go
I said - old man, when you're short on your dough
You can stay with a discount
Many ways to have a good time.

You've got to join A.A.R.P.
You've got to join A.A.R.P.
They have everything for old men to enjoy.
You can get a discount.
You've got to join A.A.R.P.
You've got to join A.A.R.P.
You can get a cheap room
You can eat a cheap meal
You can even rent cheap wheels.

Old man - are you listening to me
I said - old man, what do you want to be
I said - old man, you can make real your dreams,
but you've got to know this one thing.

No man, does it all by himself
I said, old man, put your pride on the shelf
And just go there, to the A.A.R.P.
I'm sure they can help you today

You've got to join A.A.R.P.
You've got to join A.A.R.P.
They have everything for old men to enjoy.
You can get a discount.
You've got to join A.A.R.P.
You've got to join A.A.R.P.
You can get a cheap room
You can eat a cheap meal
You can even rent cheap wheels.

Old Man, I was once in your shoes,
I said, I was down and out with the blues
I felt - No man cared if I were alive
I felt the whole world was so jive

That's when someone came up to me
and said old man take a walk up the street
There's a place there called the A.A.R.P.
They can start you back on your way.

You've got to join A.A.R.P.
You've got to join A.A.R.P.
They have everything For old men to enjoy.
You can get a discount.
A.A.R.P.
You've got to join A.A.R.P.
You've got to join A.A.R.P.
Old man, Old man, there's no need to feel down
Old man, Old man, get yourself in the group

A.A.R.P.
just go to the A.A.R.P.
Old Man, Old Man, I was once in your shoes,
Old Man, Old Man, I was out with the blues

A.A.R.P.

The AARP has sold out America's senior citizens, and anyone who would like to live long enough to become one, by endorsing the drug companies' "Medicare reform" bill. As far as I'm concerned, "AARP" is now a four-letter word. But this was a good parody.

I liked it very clever, but no offence to the people who wrote it, but....it did not have the same pacing as the original...not exactly. certain lines were shorter in syllables than what the original song has...but that's ok it doesn't need to be perfect...good good song :)

I'm a member of a men's singing group -started in 1948 - our average age is in the fifties. We do a show every year a Musical Revue and our adult/senior audience howls with making good- humored fun of our seniors. The parody on My Favorite Things went over big. Thanks for you fine efforts and keep 'em coming.
