The Lyrics

Open wide!
Open wide!
Open wide!
Open wide!

You put the mirror into my gob
You look at my teeth for some cavity bobs
Put the drill into my mouth (yeah yeah)
Goes a buzz-buzz-buzz till the tar-tar comes out
But somethings aching me
One tooth has crumbs
The dentist told me "you've got problems with gums"
Its so scary, in the chair
I was frightnened, so I should've taken greater care

Go and see your local dentist
And then you'll see the cute hygenist
Go and see your local dentist
I don't want to get another damn filling
Go and see your local dentist
'Cause im not eatin' any sweet sugar twists
Go and see your local dentist
Take that drill to my mouth
its a north and south, yeah yeah

You polish my teeth 'till they're all white
You make my breath smell nicer than Colgate Bright
Made my molars all nice and strong
My cavities never looked so wrong
'Cause im your patient, and a fool
It makes me feel good when my teeth look cool
Come on dentist, do your job
Do the X-ray, everything will never throb

Go and see your local dentist
And then you'll see the cute hygenist
Go and see your local dentist
I don't want to get another damn filling
Go and see your local dentist
'Cause im not eatin' sweet sugar twists
Go and see your local dentist
Take that drill to my mouth
its a north and south, yeah yeah baby

(Open wide!)
(Open wide!)

You're ok patient, make a date
Come and see me, don't be late
For your good treatment, you might need dentures
They are bad, come for your fixtures

(open wide!)

Go and see your local dentist
And then you'll see the cute hygenist
Go and see your local dentist
I don't want to get another damn filling
Go and see your local dentist
'Cause im not eatin' any sweet sugar twists
Go and see your local dentist
Take that drill to my mouth
Go and see your local dentist, don't you dare to make me eat sweet sugar twists
Do my filling!

(Boom boom boom)

If you don't you'll be sorry.

This one breaks rule #1 of parody writing. Your lyrics must be related in some way to the original lyrics. Especially the hook. Otherwise, it's not really parody.
Kristof Robertson - April 25, 2007 - Report this comment
Firstly, a reply to Bradford Boogie. With due respect, you're wrong. Of course it helps to have some link with the OS, but it's not a must. Some of the best parodies I've seen on this site bear no semblance to the theme of the OS. Now to Jason: not bad, dude. Be careful of where you put stresses on words, otherwise the parody can feel clunky. There was smatterings of humour here, and although not fully realised, the parody was pretty good. 544

Thanks Yoidy. To Bradford Boogie, I am only trying to be creative in my parody writing! I do try my best to write decent songs! Are you writing any new parodies yourself?

Incisive... I'm with Kristof on this! 4 out of 5 dentists recommend this parody to their patients who listen to parodies.

(SOTM) Everything Kristof said is what I would have said (what planet is Bradford Boogie from?)

(SOTM) I thought the only rule to parody writing was "Thou shalt not plagarize" As much I hate WHAM!, this was good, although I would recommend in future efforts, try to change up the choruses a little, otherwise it gets repetitive. Lemming! Lemming! Lemming of the BDA. It's a man's life in the British Dental Association!

(SOTM) Great! Not as good as the Cat Classic 'Fillings', but yours comes pretty close! I mean it!

SOTM - Having just scratched the idea of "When my teeth are in pain" to U2's "Where the streets have no name" (too little material to drill... i mean work with) I can relate to this parody. :-)

So, a trip to the dentist in time saves nine? I also liked TJC's comment.

(SOTM) what Agri said about what Kristof said - good work here Jason, and this OS is such a rollicking read, I'm surprised it hasn't been parodied more often - 555

(SOTM) Heh heh, I can imagine George Michael himself singing this while he gets his celebrity-smile tooth-caps replaced & polished!

(SOTM) Wow. . .you know this will sound really stupid. . .but I'm going to say it anyway. . .before searching YouTube to find this to pace your parody, I always thought the music in the background was just the demo song on keyboards, I didn't realize it was a real song. . .I know I know, I like the OS now that I've heard it. . .and your dentist, I mean parody too.

SOTM- I was just at the dentist recently, so it made this all the much funnier. Good work, Jason.

(SOTM) Heh, this is like a more positive spin on my "Fillings!" Neat stuff here.

SOTM - I used to like going to the dentist. Now it's just another tiresome chore. Luckily this song is less painful.

(SOTM) Can't stand TOS or the dentist, but I remember the assistant he had...very hot! Very good pacing and great rhyming here, Jason. You're getting better all the time. Keep it up!

Many thanks to all of the recent commenters! I appreciate good feedback from everyone here!

(SOTM) I sort of agree with Bradford - a parody SHOULD satirize (play off the original words instead of just syllables) the OS in the chorus and this would be better if it did, but this is still a parody and not a bad one. With agri's and this one back to back I'm somewhat surprised that I'm typing this comment and not brushing my teeth.
