The Obama Administration recently announced that it proposes lifting protections for gray wolves in the mainland US, setting back 4 decades of recovery. The NA gray wolf once roamed the entire US but was nearly wiped out by the 1930s through mass shootings, trapping, and poisoning. Villification has always been the reason even as man was the one that took all their territory and forced them to scavenge and attack expansive livestock. With a population of 6100 wolves confined to 10 states, environmental groups want the wolves to be able to expand into the west coast states and southern US. If the protections are lifted then the hunters and ranchers will have a right to kill as many of the predators as possible and we'll be back to the same situation that led to the 1930s disaster. The wolf is a majestic animal and a sacred Native American spirit guide. The Endangered Species Act needs to be upheld. Problem wolves that kill livestock already can be killed but leave the general population alone. I support Wild Sentry which educates people about the way wolves live and mans destructive villification of the animal as unjust, a reason to kill for sport or fun. This is the 21st century, not the 19th.
