Song Parodies -> "Fed-Up Egyptians"

Original Song Title:

"On the Road Again"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Willie Nelson

Parody Song Title:

"Fed-Up Egyptians"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

Back to Tahir Square- to complain and protest Morsi's rule after just 1 year!!!
Fed-up Egyptians
Just one year after inauguration
Muslim Brotherhood won’t make the right concessions
Tyranny to democracy- tough transition

Fed-up Egyptians
Chanting “Ir-hal, Ir-hal”* as their slogan
The promised reforms are seen as pure fiction
Tyranny to democracy- tough transition

Fed-up Egyptians
They got rid of Mubarak and had it their way
Held an election
Insisting that Egypt could choose its own way
But delays, have caused too much friction

Just one year after inauguration
Muslim Brotherhood won’t make the right concessions
Tyranny to democracy- tough transition
* Ir-hal means "leave"

Read a more coherent account in the newspaper. Your subbing not helpful or funny.

Sad, but true - tyranny to democracy is a tough transition.

Thanks JJ. Maybe you could "explain" it to the self- professing intellectual (inference as Times Reader) who seems to lack common sense! My parody is empirically straight-forward. A HS student with a 100 IQ would get it. Maybe Fox News could explain it better! And, as ususal, why is it that certain individuals here can't understand parodies that are witty, sarcastic, morbid, sex-masked, or other??? Humorous is only ONE type of parody and not everything Weird Al does is parody gold either!!! A lot of his material stinks in lyrical or video form. My apology in comment line for missing "r" in Tahrir Square :)

yes, straightforward, unwitty, not sarcastic, just nothing, a waste of space

Sorry, I should have wrote pseudo-intellectual!!! As for your dictionary ref for parody, who cares? By that standard on this site, many vets as well as newbies would not qualify. Please tell me how many of the parodies up today are really funny, hilarious... like say, bust a gut reading them? I find none. Most of the daily parodies reflect current events, politics, sports, whatever and are largely witty and sarcastic at best. Please post your parody author page so that I and the others can rate you. If not, you again are nothing but a nuisance 1-bomber or worthless commentator. Perhaps you should send in your letter or e-mail the Times with your complaint! As for your petty Mil-Spec comment, by all means try to debate me over any TR weapon system. I am known for my knowledge of all the Wunderwaffen and most German weapon systems through their history as well as being only the 11th person since 1955 to write about the German Flugscheiben (Flight Dics). I've even been consulted on my knowledge of them by the Discovery Channel, UFO Hunters, and the producers of the "Iron Sky" movie. Others, including armor fans and armorers have inquired about the rarest of their weapons. So you cannot insult me with your petty comment. If you wanna get into any Mil-Spec argument of Milspeak talk, be my guest. It would be so easy to dissect everything you say and critique what you don't know. At least I can print my own name when in the comment box and not hide behind a false title of no regard. NFR

"Sorry, I should have wrote... " Those opening words of yours tells us all we need to know about your level of literacy.

Mr. Arndt, I will NOT give you the link to my pages. I have a very good reason, and I owe you no explanation. But I will, for your convenience and edification, give you and other readers the link to the page of the pseudonymous "Giorgio Coniglio," who is among the very few real parodists inhabiting this site. I hope he doesn't mind. The page is public, after all.

"Giorgio" has written only 11 parodies, but they are of infinitely greater worth than all 2,000+ pieces of detritus spread by the "production machine." I know I'm throwing pearls before swine because you still have the sense of humor of a warthog.

@ Times Reader: Absolutely. 'Giorgio's' one of the best, and your reference to him makes a nonsense out of the 'newbie vs vet' concept. Al Silver was another good example. However, G's work tends to be cerebral, sophisticated, advanced wordplay, multilingual to boot - a delight for some readers, but inevitably of limited popular appeal. I wish both parodists would produce more.

Just a note about anonymous/pseudonymous posts. While I don't do it myself, I can understand why some do - they don't want irrelevant retaliatory attacks and 'vote-bombs' appearing on their parodies.

I think that Reader is at a disadvantage b/c Arndt threw up the challenge and his response was to post someone else's work, so how does that validate his own claim of parodic superiority? Makes his credibility look weak. Arndt can annoy and some of his stuff is morbid as hell, but as for his knowledge on Third Reich and other military topics, he's right on the money. I am a modeler and aviation fan and I have learned so much from him. In fact, I checked online and he is all over the internet for his materials on the most bizarre and classified flight machines as well as his intimate firearms knowledge. I find him an anomoly here, but an interesting one. The H8Rs don't wanna be bombed so they play games but bomb Mr. Arndt. How exactly is that productive? I give props to Arndt for not giving in and standing his ground. That old saying "Those that hide lack guts inside" certainly makes Reader & Company look bad. Arndt isn't like that and that's Ok by me. Next round...

I made no claim of my "parodic superiority" relative to Rob. But now that you mention it, I know for sure that I am superior. In spades. I do not bomb Mr. Arndt, but I'm glad to see other detractors give 1s because HE DOES NOT WRITE PARODIES. I myself judge each voting category separately. On the other hand, a cavalry of all-5ers can be counted on to bolster his score when too many 1s are registered.

I've read Rob's comments on another website which is far more suitable for his knowledge and ability. In his old venue, he was criticized for characterizing everything German-made as superior. He made it a point to mention that most weapons and civilian gadgets were invented by Germans. In short, he was criticized for going beyond ancestral pride. Now he is safely here, with the purpose of setting records. Here, he has called himself a "blood German," a curious throwback to discredited racial and eugenic theories of the Third Reich. He has also claimed that his people are German, a statement which he had deleted when he was rebuked by a reader. I HATE ALL THAT! You say I'm gutless; I say if you don't know all the facts, pay better attention.

Neat one - 455 as I had problems with pacing. Perhaps you could get something out from Bangles's song "Walk Like an Egyptian"?
