The Lyrics

The US Army's joint US-German XM-25 is having a hard time becoming operational. Known as the CDTE (Combat Defilade Target Engagement) system, it saw brief field testing in Afghanistan before funding was cut in 2013. It has been improved and resubmitted for approval with production ready to resume. This weapon was derived from the XM-29 Smartrifle as the lower component air burst grenade launcher with laser rangefinder, ballistic computer, and auto fuze setter. In the field became known as the Punisher!
Punisher XM
Grenade launcher with air burst munitions
Four round mag, bursts 25s above positions
Made by HK and Alliant Techsystems

Punisher XM
Was field tested in Afghanistan
Taking out insurgents that were often hidden
Hit 'em hard in their fox holes and in their dens

Punisher XM
Despite efficiency the weapon was delayed
Spending cuts kicked in
$35,000 each tough to pay
Unless more made, and coverage extends

Grenade launcher with air burst munitions
Four round mag, busts 25s above positions
Made by HK and Alliant Techsystems
Weight of 14 lbs, 30" long, 25x40mm ammo, range 550-750 yds, 1100 yds max

$35,000 each, so the Army can turn around and give them to the Ferguson, Missouri Police Department for free. I bet the Los Angeles School System would take a couple dozen. They probably could actually find a use for the things.

$35k per unit is the preproduction cost. The cost will drop drastically once 10,000 are produced for the US Army!!!
