My apologies to anyone that thinks this is glorification of Nazism. It's not. It is historically accurate military aviation and anyone that studies WW2 air combat KNOWS the Rudel story well and that of Hartmann who was and still is the Ace-of-Aces. But Hartmann flew the Bf 109 and Rudel the Stuka. One was air to air and the other ground attack- both w/o mercy. Hartmann's tactic was to stay on the enemy SIX and fire away while Rudel was driven by Nazi superiority beliefs and glorification of war- total destruction. He is the male equivalent IMO of famed Nazi female test pilot Hanna Reitsch who many argue was the world's best test pikot in history b/c she not only tested radical new aviation technologies but pioneered their development. She also piloted a V-1 missile internally and made the flight to Berlin in a Fieseler Strorch under heavy fire landing near the Brandenberg Gate- the only one able to get Hitler out of Berlin by April 30, 1945. Baur, Hitler's personal pilot, would have had a much tougher time getting the Fuhrer out b/c of his a/c choices and timeframe. The large Ju-52, Ju-290, and Bv-222 were sitting targets. Hanna could fly anything with precision and helicopters as well! Anyway, don't get too much into the war or politics, just remember Rudel's scorecard at the end...
