Henry "Hank" Pym was a brilliant biochemist who discovered Pym particles that allowed him to alter his size from insect to Giant (12-100 ft tall). He had an initial run-in with some ants and so developed a helmet to communicate with them and a range of other insects. His small size allowed him to spy on a level never achieved by SHIELD and he became one of the founding Avengers. On a special mission he fell in love with Janet Van Dyne and grafted wings under her shoulder blades to allow her to fly when exposed to Pym particles; thus, she became his compainion lover- Wasp. They had on-going relationship problems and in one battle she was killed. Hank them went through a self-destructive phase with multiple personalities: Yellowjacket, Wasp (man), and finally turned to Giant Man/Goliath. For his own good at recovery he taught new Avenger candidates at the Avengers Academy and was later replaced by two others who donned the Ant-Man suit...
