The Lyrics

It was scrapped for a while, now that I've done it...
Dum, dum, dum, where dot that sound come from?
Dum, dum, dum that sound came from my gun.
Dum, dum, dum, where did you get that from?
Dum, dum, dum the future

Attila's got a gun
Attila's got a gun
He'd even shoot a nun
For trying to make a run
What did his mommy do?
What did she put him through?
They said when Attila has attacked
they saw him shooting everyone
But man, how did it happen Now that Attila's got a gun
there's no way he'll ever gonna stop.

Attilla's got a gun
Attilla's got a gun
Dick Chaney had his fun
Will let you know this song's not a pun
I'd tell you this is true.
What did her mommy do?
She messed up a cute little baby
That tramp has got to be crazy
They say the drugs she took was the combo of white lightning
and mary jane all rolled up in one tiny package

Run away, run away from that crazy psychopath
Run away run away from his aim-im-im
-im-im-im-im-im
Run away, run away, run, run away

Attila's got a gun
Attila's got a gun
Dick Cheney had his fun
Will let you know this song's not a pun
What did his mommy do?
Attila hates the I.R.S.
He had to gun them down easy and puts the bullets in their brains
He said 'cause I don't owe them nothin'. They tried to rob him blind.
there's no way he'll ever gonna stop.

Run away, run away from that crazy psychopath
Run away run away from his aim-im-im
-im-im-im-im-im
Run away, run away, run, run away

Attila's got a gun
Attila's got a gun
Attila's got a gun
Will let you know this song's not a pun

Attila's got a gun
Dick Cheney had his fun
Will let you know this song's not a pun
Because Attila's got a gun
Attila's got a gun
Dick Cheney had his fun
Will let you know this song's not a pun
Attila's got a gun
What do you think?

(ABC4) Not only did this not make much sense, it didn't pace all that well, either (at least, to my mind). Sorry, Max.

Sorry, but I agree with Agrimorfee. I kinda understand where you were coming from, Attila the Hun right?

(ABC) ah, thanks Matthias for helping me by making the Attila the "Hun" connection - a bit repetitive Max, but I do get the idea now

(ABC4) So uh...what was the joke? I didn't find one. Atilla and guns are a bit anachronistic, and it overall made no sense. Better luck next time.

(ABC4) I don't get it, and even if I did I can't sing this: the title line fits well enough, but too many lines don't scan, are lifted from the original, or they end with feminine (mis)rhymes (crazy/package) instead of masculine rhymes (insane/rain). I give you credit for taking on a hard song, but this parody is kind of a trainwreck. Sorry, Max. Better luck next time. 333

(ABC4) Hmm. . .Max. . .you know I respect you as a parodist. . .but I have to say I was a bit disappointed in this one, I know you are better than this. . .but what I'd like to do is point out a few things that stuck out to me that would make this a little better, "Attilla Hates The IRS" for one doesn't fit the rhyme scheme at all. . .I.R.S. doesn't rhyme with 'do', rhyme scheme is very important in parody to make reference to the original other wise it may be hard for non-parodist to recognize the original song when reading it. "What did her mommy do?" is probably the most confusing line to me because in the first paragraph, Attilla is a male (he, his, he'll) and now in the second Atilla is a female, and then a male again in the third. . .I'm sure this was an accident, but that is very important in your writing. . .you have to be careful. . .You should read your work before posting it, had you tried to sing this to the original you probably would have caught that (he/her) switch. "there's no way he'll ever gonna stop." also probably would have been caught. He'll translates to "He Will". . .Naturally that makes use of the word 'gonna' (which is the same as will in a sense) obsolete. . .perhaps "There's no way he's ever gonna stop." would work better. I also will point out Atilla doesn't really scan to Janie. . .Jan-e is a quick pronounce two syllable name while A-til-la is a three syllable one that when pronounced correctly stretches the middle syllable a bit. That will work however because the original is forgiving in it's own pacing, however without recording it, it would be hard to show that for the purpose of grading (that's why I record everything) Anyhow. . .all that said, I know you took on a difficult song, and I applaud that, but take a little more time Max, I've read much better than this from you and know you are capable of much better than this.

I knew where you were coming from with Attila, not sure where you were going.

(ABC) And here I was thinking it would be about Attila the Hun...sorry, Max, couldn't crack this here nut. (It doesn't help that I hate the OS!)
Mikey Squirrel - September 06, 2007 - Report this comment
ABC- OK I thought this was about Attila the Hun as well, so I, like others, am confused as well. Good effort, though.
