The Lyrics

This is another one of the Obscure 15, which really isn't that obscure of an original song because it had a ton of radio airplay... But it only has been done once on Amiright. Anyways if you DKTOS here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7cLZpSuum8
I make my dimes
At work at this Starbucks bistro
That frothy mug I have yet to try
The beans I have churned, yeah
When you order frappuccinos
Those coffee cups like to fry your mind

Beverage!
My friends taunt they say “C’mon take one sip!”
That caffeine just seemed to flow down my throat between my lips

I was peaceful when clocked in
Now in circles running I spin
This stuff’s a crazed mystery
I was calm when work first began
Now I talk fast and my lips flap
That Java Brew make me freak!

When you order I tend to zoom
Don’t mind the coffee stains
Sugar high with a caffeine buzz
Starbucks f*cked up my brain

“Calm down!” you scream
“That’s… The last espresso you drink
We’re trailing behind, You make us look bad
Your sipping’s a crime
Glad it’s not Irish Coffee
The last thing you need is a drunken sway”

There’s Red Bull in my back seat
I’ve become a drink addict
I haven’t dozed for 6 whole days
Because Monster gives me a kick!!!

Now I’m hyper bouncing off walls
That latte won’t make my heart stall
Think I should stick to iced tea
Used to be slow as a turtle
Now I'm leaping over hurdles
Brew is the death of me

On eBay spent all night
Wasting all of my pay
All on beans, rare beans, fresh beans
For my huge beverage buffet

Getting hyper off of mocha
Now I’m blasting polish polka
My neighbors are annoyed with me
If I need it in an instant
There’s a powder with brown tint
That Starbucks crew made a slew for me
Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Coffee!!!!

(Instrumental solo)

I got hyper off of Coke too
Next to lattes Coke’s a joke dude
Because those beans have caffeine
Now I’m hyper I can’t be stopped
Even by those pesky damn cops
My brain is screwed thanks to…
Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Coffee!!!!

I’m so hyper I’m a nutcase
Pouring that drink down my face
It can’t be beat by Pepsi
I was mellow when I started
Now those days have been departed

If there was a No. 16, it'd be "Heroes Of Our Time" by DragonForce. Heck, it got a Grammy nomination, but do you see parodies of it on here? This reminds me of what happens when I drink Mountain Dew. 555

Great wordplay here Matty, with the challenge of not neecessarily using OS rhymes (which I find hard to do). I wish I could say the pacing was perfect...I dont know if it's your video source or me.

(ABC G & H) Well-done, except that I prefer Dutch Bros. (a West Coast coffee drive-through chain based in Oregon) over Starbuck's. Good to the last drop (sorry, couldn't resist using the Maxwell House coffee motto), 5s, and the only time I go into this kind of behavior is if I've drunk at least five of the 24-ounce screwtop Rockstar or Monster cans.

(ABC GH) At the risk of being castrated by all you coffee-lovers, I've never had a coffee made with actual coffee beans. It's been instant coffee since I started. That said, pretty crazy parody here, 555!

(ABC G/H) (Rambling with energy): Matty, Matty, Matty, Matty, Matty! Great song, great parody love it so much I can't stop singing, singing, singing. Oh, what a glorious, amazingly, superbly, incredibly, positively, absolutely, perfectly written satire, yes it is it is it is! You getting 5,5 5,5,5...sorry, it's that damn caffeine rush I'm having that makes me so damn hyper! In the words of Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks: A damn fine cup of coffee!

"All on beans, rare beans, fresh beans" huh? This is a parody about caffeine not gas right? I guess you mean 'coffee beans'. . .Some of it was very funny, and other parts seemed like you went a little all over the place, most of it was about coffee but then that bit praising Red Bull/Monster really threw it off, and I'm not sure how "coffee cups fry a mind" I don't know Matty--overall its good but I think there are so coherency problems with this one
Matthias - June 14, 2010 - Report this comment
I think that you're over thinking this one Dave. The beans line isn't about gas, Duh! It was about a guy on eBay buying all kinds of rare and exotic coffee beans and the references to Red Bull and Monster stating that they do not compare to coffee and substitutes for when coffee isn't available.
Warren Baker - June 14, 2010 - Report this comment
(ABC G/H) Nice simple premise. Great subject. And something I do know a little about since Starbucks owns a chunk of my paycheck. Ironic that the pace of the original is sluggish, but you've nicely juxtaposed it with a manic topic. This hits on all cylinders. So that'll be 5 grandes, 5 packets of Splenda, and 5 hits of half and half.

Matty, you can tell by my vote I liked it and I saw what you were going for, what I'm pointing out is how it reads a bit unclear. . .read my last line--overall it is good, I meant that, but in the Red Bull/Monster stanza you make no comparison, only mention that Red Bull and Monster both help keep you up as well, that's no a comparison its introducing a new concept in a parody that's otherwise focused on coffee, it'd be fine if you didn't go back to coffee, but by delving into Red Bull/Monster in a non-comparison way it comes out as random (something I'm often accused of, but usually they are coherent randomness) and You zoomed in on the gas comment but missed the part after words. I am aware you meant coffee beans but again you make no direct tie to it and beans are just as easily associated with Bush's Baked Beans as they are Starbucks, perhaps instead of "Beverage Buffet" you could have used "Coffee Buffet" to make it clearer. If it were seriously distracting to the parody to where I couldn't comprehend it, my vote would have reflected that, you know me well enough to know I don't sugar coat my opinions, and that they are very honest, I wish people wouldn't take that so personally, (duh indicates you took it personally) as the point of these contests isn't flowery "oh your parody is so good" followed by a no vote with no explanation, When I really disliked your parodies and felt they were really bad, I let you know that too, but you are a veteran writer Matty. . .and if I have criticisms of your work it is only things I felt you could have done better its not over thinking because you are part of the AmIRight All Stars project, and as such I record your stuff (especially next month and the month after as I am getting a computer tomorrow or Wednesday) I only point these things out for your benefit and to increase the record-ability of your work, so please--don't get offended so easily
