The Lyrics

The Germans held the British Channel Islands until the end, but there were attempts made to land commandos to conduct sabotage several times. All attempts failed, but recently declassified information has surfaced of a successful strike in 1944 by a RN group called The Blue Fins under a Lt. Charles Bromsley. They planted explosives against the Atlantic Wall defenses and sabotaged a communications network. They were forced to retreat, but reported on the strength of the German fortifications. The Allies bypassed them. They were liberated May 9, 1945. Churchill also starved the Germans and the citizens out for years before Allied ships were allowed to leave food. Even still, the Germans mounted a food raid on Granville in March 1945!!!
On the move,
Blue Fins did succeed,
In Channel Island sabotaging
Germans didn't budge,
Counterattack did ensue,
Churchill deprived it's citizens of any food!

(So no news)

On the move,
They left by sea,
Used Holt pistols and the carbine Wensley*
Operation cost blood,
Blue Fins died- eight + two (RN)
Luckily, the bodies were removed!

Nazis and Brits did not acknowledge you...
* experimental weapons unique to the Blue Fins. The Holt Automatic Pistol was in experimental .42 Cal and the Wendesley carbine was in 7.92x57mm! It was developed based on the obscure Enfield Bullpup rifle of WW2 which was rejected, but later led to postwar EM-1 thru 3 bullpups. The engineer was Randall Wensleydale. A typo listed the weapon as simply Wensley and no one corrected the mistake!!!
