The Lyrics

After surviving the Great DC (Mineral, VA) Quake of 2011, it had to be done. Recording can be found here: Shaky Quaky Ground Recording
Chillin in DC, about 1:53
I thought that there must have been a ghost
My lunch fell off my tray, the walls began to sway
I felt like I was on the other coast

I began to blog, it must have been the dog
But he was sound asleep under the bed
No thunder and no rain, no low flying airplane
I grabbed the pup, a case of beer and fled

Cause, I felt the ground, the shaky, quaky ground
Now something slipped on a fault line
Yes, we all felt the ground, the shaky, quaky ground
Richter Scale says it's 5.9
Whoa!

When I got outside, could not believe my eyes
There's chaos and destruction in the air
I uploaded and shared, knocked over plastic chairs
It's reposted on Facebook everywhere

I got 900 tweets, there's panic on the streets
I best make sure my girlfriend is okay
If my house is rockin, don't you come a-knockin
We're shakn all night long inside today

Cause I felt the ground, the shaky, quaky ground
I never thought that I would see
Until I felt the ground, the shaky, quaky ground
The east coast fall into the sea
Whoa!

I felt the ground, the shaky, quaky ground
My west coast friends all laugh and mock
If you still feel the ground, the shaky, quaky ground
It just might be an aftershock!

I felt the ground, the shaky, quaky ground
It might have you a little freaked
Forget about the ground, the shaky, quaky ground
There's gonna be a hurricane next week!
Whoa!

Congratulations on getting this story written and posted so quickly. I can't imagine anything much scarier than having the ground starting to move.

I remember someone saying years ago that someday everything east of the San Andreas fault will fall into the Atlantic. Yesterday it seemed that they were right.

Talk about your instant turn around time! This was hilarious and done so quick it was insane! Brilliant and if all it takes is a national disaster to take you out of your parody writing funk, I hope they happen a lot more often.

Jeff - Way to go! I wanted to do something about the quake, but I didn't do it because the "insiders" would have one bombed me. Don't get on their bad side or they and the "artistry" will run you off of the site. ;D

A good goofy and spoofy sway of Billy Ray

Jeff...I should have been here last week, but you know...I was just lame and wasn't. Yep...that's my excuse. =(

You always make me laugh, though...love this...plastic chairs, the rockin' house...and the Irene foreshadowing is great...=)

At least 5 times better than the original.

I'm still impressed you were able to get this parody done within an hour of the earthquake happening. I also liked the nod towards hurricane Irene and the line: "If my house is rockin, don't you come a-knockin". Brilliant as usual Jeff.

(SOTM) What I think is funny about this event was that the day before, Colorado (my state) had it's own little earthquake. Sure it didn't turn as many heads as the East Coast quake did, but I was thinking (in a joking way of course) "Guys , Yellowstone's gonna blow..."

(SOTM) As much as I hate the OS, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Awesome job Jeff!

No Chilean miners trapped this time? Then I'd say you mined your way out of the situation with this one all by yourself.

(SOTM) Fantastic parody despite the grating OS. Loved the AC/DC reference in the second verse. It's a 555 on the Parody-Richter scale!
