The Lyrics

You may serve me scones with chocolate macaroons
Or peaches and cream and curds and whey
And I adore Lebekuchen Stollen and Baumkuchen
And don't forget the challah sabbath day

Make a pot of oolong or fragrant lapsang souchong
And sandwiches with some watercress
A pot of Darjeeling would have my senses reeling
The Queen's entertainment with finesse

But don't wake me up with Folgers in my cup
That nawsty stuff from the USA
'Cause if you wake me up with Folgers in my cup
I might upchuck my Earl Grey

Woooo

You may say it's best to brush my teeth with Crest
And drop in and smell my toilet any day
And I won't curl my face if you give me "Love's Embrace"
Or tell me every kiss begins with Kay

Advertize your potion for (slide whistle) dysfunction
Or you can stuff your face with "Special K"
Or scrub your floor with Pine Sol or fumigate with Lysol
Or hawk that awful movie everyday

But don't wake me up with Folgers in my cup
That smarmy mewling song is in my ears
'Cause if you wake me up with Folgers in my cup
I'll be lying here with my ears full of tears

Woooo

Don't wake me up with Folgers in my cup
That's gauche as gaucherie can get
'Cause if you wake me up with Folgers in my cup
I guarantee you'll get a zetz

Oyyyy

Don't wake me up with Folgers in my cup
I'll pour that stuff right down your pants - oyyyy

Don't wake me up with Folgers in my cup
The Queen will kick you all the way to France!

"I wish you'd go away!"

Good job, even though Folger's 100% Columbian is my favorite coffee.

Thanks John and Porfle - I'm knocking those mewling commercials rather than the coffee. Maybe the Queen et al do drink coffee, but I know their favorite tea is Earl Gery.

This Chock-Full-Of-Nuts coffee commercial from yesteryear is howlingly funny. Is that Snow White as a grandma to Pinnochio? www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8ySFm18_dU

That's another stupid commercial. Thanks for the link.
2Eagle - August 22, 2012 - Report this comment
Your link reminds me that it was Folgers that made the "bad coffee" commercials.

Cleverly done

"Ears full of tears" - great line!
2Eagle - August 22, 2012 - Report this comment
Thanks, AFW and Meriadoc - "tears in my ears" is really a line from a country song.
Peregrin - August 24, 2012 - Report this comment
I thought this was really good. The last line: "I wish you'd go away!" I saw as a nice segue back to the original artist :)

Thanks, Peregrin - "I wish you'd go away!" was what the Queen shouted at the paparazzi when Charles and Diana were on their honeymoon.

As Mrs. Olsen said, " It's mountain grrrrown - ze rrrrrichest kind!".

Your taste in words matches your taste in beverages. This song needed a good roasting.

Thanks, lifesaver - so does Folgers for those tacky commercials.

Lifesaver? You flatter me sir! Did I drink the Folgers intended for you?
