I actually wrote this one a while back (right after my 'Hey Miley Cyrus' parody) but for some reason never got around to posting it. Not sure what weird corner of my brain it came from though!

I called the Guggenheim, it was a waste of time
They told me ‘We can’t let your kind in there’

I remember well the original from the eighties. And, yes, that was a good slap on the art critics' wrists. Most of the so-called "fine arts" are neither fine nor art. Most of it is just but junk. 555.

555 for creativity. However, I disagree with Susanna about art. Like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. One person's junk is another's art. I have many photos of all my sports cars and sports bikes but my fave is an old Kodak pic of my moped that got wrecked, rusted, and ended-up in the backyard of a friend with beautiful flowers (as well as weeds) growing around it. Between all the good pics of the machine when new and the wreck pic, myself and everyone else loves the wreckage more. It's not just the nostalgic connection and fascination with transportation relics, but it's just a really great capture in time with contrasting colors and the PUCH name badge standing out. To each his own tatste in art, photographic or otherwise :)

@Rob: I love photography as a art medium; a black-and-white photo of even the simplest thing can be a thing of beauty. There are definitely 'modern artists' I dislike though; Tracey Emin is one, but that's because she's an obnoxious person rather than because of any of her work.
@Lifeliver: sometimes if I'm on a bit of a roll I write two or three parodies in a row, and then think "Okay, I'll post this one today, and that one tomorrow and then this one the day after..." and by the time I've got to 'the day after' I've written another one I like better so I post that instead... and so there are the odd one or two that get forgotten about. I'll see if I've got any more like that hiding in my archives. There's actually a German version of the OS that's in a more female-friendly vocal range (url - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eElTbQ8jNFw). If I ever decide to record this, I might use the melody of Billy Ray's version but in the key of the German one. With appropriate hillbilly accent, of course ;^)
@Callmelennie: heheee... and you just know there's gotta be a rhyme for 'taliban' in there somewhere too? ;^)

I checked out the German version - a bit mainstream pop for my taste, lacks the down-home rootsy feel of the slide guitar. I still think Billy Ray's is a classic, despite the unmistakably faked hype of the video production ... thanks for the link anyway.
