Song Parodies -> "Foreign Language"

Original Song Title:

"Zoot Suit Riot"

Original Performer:

Cherry Poppin' Daddies

Parody Song Title:

"Foreign Language"

Parody Written by:

Below Average Dave

The Lyrics

Can't get French in my Memory
Spanish is way too much for me
Chinese, German and Italian
Speak in Russian? Well I can't

Hear it every day
Can't forget it fast enough
Not much more to say
All but English gets me lost

Foreign Language
In and back out of my ear
Foreign Language
Hey Rosetta I need your help my dear

Foreign Language
Sound closer out of my rear
Foreign Language
If I speak it people laugh and stare

Can't speak it

I struck up conversation with French men
but I can't understand a thing they said
If I try to speak Arabian
They know I'm American

Careful what you say
If you do not speak their tongue
Cause if you don't know
They might think that your rough

Foreign Language
All sounds the same to my ear
Foreign Language
Gotta learn it for my job this year

Can't speak no Foreign Language
Can't speak no Foreign Language
Can't speak no Foreign Language

Quiero huevos
Parlez Vous Francais
Ich trinke Soda
obiettivo
inte äter mig
Mluví anglicky?
Nem vagyok meztelen
Ben ik dom

There's not much more to say
Have I butchered Greek enough
Do I speak in vain
When I try to speak your stuff

Foreign Language
Tried but I speak in despair
Foreign Language
All the dialects are hard to bare

Foreign Language
I think beer's derriere?
Foreign Language
I guess not since it sounds like rear

Can't speak no Foreign Language
Can't speak no Foreign Language
Can't speak no Foreign Language

Thank I'm about ready to speak

Really good parody and I can totally relate to this one! I kinda want to hear you record this just for the reaction people who speak the language will get from whatever the heck you said in that one section of the song. Dave: What did you actually say in that one section of the song anyways?

If you think we sound stupid trying to learn other languages, think of how it takes years for Asians to learn English.

SOTM: I took two semesters of spanish last year, and I don't remember anything more than I already knew! Great work!

My favorite parts of this song were the parts in other languages. It added depth to the rest of the song, which was more general in nature (can't speak spanish, don't get french, etc). Well matched to the OS.

(SOTM) Heh, Rosetta. Love what you did with the scatting section. A really great read, despite being some lines sounding a bit weird (maybe the singer doesn't have much of a grasp on English as he thinks he does?). 555!

(ABC) The funny translates in whatever language it's in. Like my dad always says "Laughter is something everyone understands."

(ABC) my brother and I used to have a CD of St. Louis Cardinals parody songs and this OS was on it, but I think this one is so much better.
