On Monday, I posted a mash-up of what Boney Maroney would have sounded like if it had been written by Roy Orbison (Only The Lonely). This time, the shoe is on the other foot. What if the Cherry Poppin' Daddies (Zoot Suit Riot) had written Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman? Well.........lol! ;D

Very good... I love the OS, have seen the original performers playing it in concert when I lived in Eugene, and wonder if I had any part in inspiring this parody. 5s.

If I remember correctly, alvin rhodes started, or at least popularized, the technique of doing two OSs to each other's melodies, called "smooshing" -- and posting them both *on the same day*. Not a bad trend to restart! Carrion! (oops, "carry on")

I had to look at my own song list to see when that was -- looks like late 2006 to early 2007. Having gone to all that trouble, here's a set that were posted on the same day:

"Last Night, I Couldn't Get To Sleep At All" to the tune of "The Star-Spangled Banner", and the latter to the tune of the former.

I was introduced to this very hard to do subgenre by (I think) Paul Robinson (who's not active here since a couple of years) and that must have been as early as 2005 since I wrote my own (and still only) take then:

Now that you mention it, I do seem to remember Paul's name being mentioned in connection with this. But I didn't join the site until 2006, so wasn't aware. I had a few more smooshing ideas in the works, but while I was away from the site for six months or so, the trend seemed to have died down, so never bothered with them.

Great job there, but I think you're supposed to complete the set, i. e. do Old MacDonald to the tune of the Lizzy Borden rhyme (on the same day, preferably). Thanks for the additional info. ... btw,, I had some communications with Paul a while back , and he was having some bad personal and life issues. I'd like to see him back, also.
