The Lyrics

Intro:
We'll be swinging,
When we're in it
We'll be sinking

I get no doubt, but I get over it
If I ever own a lead guitar
I get no towel, but I get hope again
You never gonna give me towel
Ain't got no tone, it's just reverb again
Ain't never going to grimsby town
Gotta get no job, when I get home again
You're never gonna keep me down

Dissin' the right of way
F***ing the night away

He drinks a risky drink,
He drinks a Mocha drink,
He drinks a lava drink,
He drinks a side of drink,
He sings the songs that remind him of the good times,
He sings the songs that remind him of the bed times

Ohh, tiny boy, Dannon boy, dammit boy..

I've got my town, it's in the Almanac
You're never gonna keep me out
Gotta get some now, get knocked up again
You're never gonna beat me now
I get No Doubt, but I'm an opera fan
You're never gonna beat me now
I get knocked down, by an elephant.
You're neva gonna beat me down

This is the night and day
Dancin' the night away

He drinks a sissy drink,
He drink an awful drink,
He drinks a larger drink,
He drinks inside a drink,
I smell the socks that remind me of the bad times,
I smell the socks that remind me of the better times

Don't cry for me export label

I got no job, but I got alcohol
You're never gonna kick me down
I get knocked up, then I have a kid
He's an illegitimate child
I get no tongue, but I'll get over it
You're never gonna make me drown
I got no job, but I get up at 10
You're never gonna keep a job

(misheard chorus 'til outro)

What they singing?
Keep on drinking
We're mishearing

I haven't really thought much of your misheard parodies until this one. 555

Now, what'd that song say? I always liked the OS. Very good job with this one, Mr. Ant. 555

Thanks Agrimorfee; they're not to everyones' taste but I'm glad you enjoyed this one.

Thank Rick, I like TOS too. The lyrics for the main chorus are : I get kncoked down, but I get up again, you're neva gonna keep me down (according to the sheet I read).

555 on this one, the original would be more interesting if OS lyrics were really like that(I've heard the song plenty of times).

Cool and crazy...far out funny...fives

Whoa, Red Ant, you're a machine! I don't think this'll ever get old!

Thanks Step-chan (I'll get to your parody in a minute), AFW and Yet Another Dutchman. I hope you know Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me", I submitted a misheard parody to that song and the title is killer. ;-)

I remember when this song was such a big hit...now its hardly played. Doesn't bother me since I hardly like it. Anyway, this misheard song has too many funny lines to mention, but the ones that stick out is "I got no job/ I have alcohol" and "He drinks inside a drink".

Thanks again SJ, I thought the OS was too repetitive but still catchy. I imagine many of these lyrics were misheard/made up by those intoxicated in pubs.

Misheard lyrics parodies are always fun, so 5-5-5 for this one.

Pooper felated spanks ( I mean "Super belated thanks") to Dylan and Jonaphantom.

Some great gets in this one Red Ant, such as "I've got my town, it's in the Almanac" and "I get No Doubt, but I'm an opera fan". This original song isn't too shabby, but I agree that it's hard to make out what exactly the singer is trying to say.

well written however i found a lot of this confusing and hard to follow

(ABC) Hey Kevin, Red Ant has specialized in the Misheard Lyric style of parody writing...a style that is not always to my taste, but funny when applied well. I see here now on my 3rd or 4th read that you kept one line of the OS verbatim---not the best thing to happen to a parody in competition.

(ABC) I can always dig a misheard-lyrics parody - they're absolutely hilarious due to being so utterly random and profoundly stupid. Obviously, 555.

ABC...Hee...I love misheard lyrics. I have my own favorites of songs...that I know are wrong...but I sing them anyway. This was like a crazy surreal stream of consciousness...but I loved it!

Misheard lyrics can be interesting, and I've seen really good ones by you, this one was alright, but I guess I can't really see these as misheard lyrics as much as just random lines that are somewhat near the original. Misheard lyrics parodies also tend to lean towards too much of OS sticking around, only one complete line (side of drink) but there many were very close to OS. As with "Broken Song"'s recording, I think as a recording this one would lose some of it's charm. Still 5 worthy, but admittingly, not one of my favorites in your collection.

ABC--Old school! Funny song for a good idea.

This was a tough one to rate. I like the adventurous idea of stringing together misheard lyrics to create a parody. Some genuine laughs here. Trouble is, you have too many of the original lyrics, and for the purpose of a songwriting contest, that's too much. 5-3-4. (If not a contest, I might have said 5-4-4 or even 5-4-5.)
