The Lyrics

This is one of my first tries at a parody, so bear with me. Especially the "poutporri" part... i'm not even sure that poutporri can physically be used for that, but it sounded good with the rhythm!
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my wife is going to change
I close my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of pain stream down my face

My heart is broken
Why did she leave me?
I only shave my back
Over her kitchen sink
My heart is broken
My heart is broken

Well I don't know what's wrong with me
I'm the grossest man you'll ever see
I pick my nose, I like to pee outside
I smell my pits just to pass the time

My heart is broken
Why did she leave me?
I only wipe my butt
With her new potpourri
Why did she leave me?
Now every time I sleep
I think of her
And how she'd smell my feet
My heart is broken
My heart is broken
She used to be like me
Oh yeah
My heart is broken
Heart-broken...

If I had just one wish
Only one demand
I wish she'd belch for me
Or maybe eat some sand
Oh please, if one last time
She would just hold my hand
As I disgust the world
With my flatulence

My heart is broken
Why did she leave me?
I only drink my Quick
Out of a used ash tray
My heart is broken
Now every time I sleep
I think of how
She'd kiss my toilet seat
My heart is broken
My heart is broken
She used to be like me
Oh yeah
My heart is broken
Heart-broken...
I would appreciate some constructive criticism, like i said, this was only my second attempt at a parody and i would like some comments, good or bad. Email: smorin1487@hotmail.com

Welcome to the group. I'm fairly new to it myself. First, I'm giving you 5-5-5, with reservations. I've heard the song, and like it. I give you points for choosing a song that can, and should, be parodied. After that you are basically on your own. Each person parodies slightly different from the others...and that's a very good thing. Some try to leave in as much of the rhyming from the original song as possible. Others just worry about the pacing. Just worrying about the pacing will give you more leeway when it comes to possible word choices. The best way to learn though, is to stay a few hours at this site and just read other people's material. Also, there is a posting room here where you can read other people's ideas and topics. Again, welcome to the group!

hi, shawn...it's me again. like Jude said...everyone here is going to produce/appreciate different types of parodies...i am HUGE on pacing and keeping to the original rhyming scheme...both in what i write and how i review. but 97% of the parodies i choose to submit are about the same topic...which limits my audience. you have to play around and see what works best for you. I've been doing this for a long time...and the best advice i can give is that the more you write, the easier it will become...and the more confident you'll be about your songs. keep it up!
