The Lyrics

The last time I postred a verison of this I misspelled my name again.. dohh) so here is a fresh verson with the correct spelling
You must have known that
I'd never desert you
Or turn my back
Cos no matter what happens
I'll always be with you
Till It's over in Iraq

We're gonna stand here -- shoulder to shoulder
That feels so good.. Just like the way we were

It's like we're joined at the hip
I have put my hands up and surrendered
We'll always be your number one airstrip
Cos I'm in love
And always will be

You know that we've caused
Such death and destruction
This is just like Vietnam
We're in such trouble
We've got to be strong
We've got to stick to our plan

We won't play by the rules till it's over
Though the shit has hit the fan.

We won't go down with this ship
They will put their hands up and surrender
There will be no white flags above our door
Cos we're in the right
And always have been

When next we meet
Up on the Hill
We'll feel the heat
But we'll be there still
We'll have success
Forget your fears
Cos we'll be blessed
With four more years

Repeat chorus 2 3 times

Excuse me, but the original is from the 2000s. Why did you put ninties?
martha - October 18, 2004 - Report this comment
I thought I had.. just an error
aoid - October 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Okay then...just remember if you want to parody this song again, just make sure you use 2000s. After all, the OS is still from last year. The content of the parody was good though.
Martha - October 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Okay will try to be more accurate! btw what is the OS???? thanks for the comment also!
Bob - October 18, 2004 - Report this comment
OS = Original song.
Phil Alexander - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
aoid - tell me, when (or who?) were the "ninties"? And honestly, what normal non-anal-retentive person really cares that much if the decade's wrong?

Martha - enjoyed the parody, loved the lines: "We won't play by the rules till it's over /Though the shit has hit the fan."
Aoid - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
I care. And so do the Decade Police. Speaking of the Decade Police, I wonder why they haven't commented on this yet. Besides, I thought we all knew that the nineties were the years 1990 through 1999. Duh.. Furthermore, many people have a big aversion to inaccuracies.
Decade Police - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
Does anybody know the Depeche Mode song "Get The Balance Right"? If so, then somebody should make a parody of that song entitled "Get The Decade Right."
Decade Cop Killer - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
Chucky has said to use the "Report Inappropriate Comment" feature on "wrong decade" comments and he'll delete them. Please, everyone, just do that instead of giving this little prick the attention he craves.
Michael Pacholek - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
D.C.K., shut up. If people wanna point out inaccurate things, let 'em do it. Lots of people have an aversion to inaccuracies. They feel it would make things much easier if things were accurate (that is, properly filed). Need I explain more?
Decade Cop Killer - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
Yes, it's all clear now. Pacholek used to dock points for the wrong "Original Artist" until that got changed to "Based on the performance by." Now he has to choose another way to be holier-than-thou.
Decade Cop Killer - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
Compare. Aoid's comment: "many people have a big aversion to inaccuracies." Michael Pacholek's comment: "Lots of people have an aversion to inaccuracies." Mystery solved.
martha - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
how do these threads come about .?. how do people see that there is an interchange taking place over displaced decade designation....so mysterious!! btw thanks for the comment Phil.. the OS ( I know that that is now.. is great...)
Caesar Box - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
And now we all know that that fact gives YOU a Hugh G. Reckshun, apparently.
Oliver Klozoff - October 20, 2004 - Report this comment
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Milcolm Tilly Kumms - October 20, 2004 - Report this comment
It means Hugh G. Reckshun is Aoid's "special friend".
Seymour Butz - October 21, 2004 - Report this comment
ENOUGH immature comments already!! If you make one more stupid comment about Aoid's gender, I swear to God I will report it as inappropriate and have Chucky ban your IP's for eternity.
question for Chucky G - October 21, 2004 - Report this comment
hey Chucky, please tell us all your official word on this........ would you "ban someone's IP for all eternity" just because they post silly joking comments that "Seymour Butz" happens to personally dislike?
Jake A Ralphing (Luke Brattoni) - November 09, 2004 - Report this comment
...ANYWAY nice parody, Marthvader.
Ash - November 09, 2004 - Report this comment
SOTM... wow this one generated a lot of controversy didn't it? Good job though
Guy - November 10, 2004 - Report this comment
(SOTM) DKTOS Wish I KTOS, this was a good read. For what it's worth the comments were an amusing side attraction.

(SOTM) DKTOS and I'm a bit disappointed, I though this would be a tangent to whatfreaks.com-material.
martha - November 10, 2004 - Report this comment
thanks for the comments and sorry to be a disappointment .. maybe now the election is over I might find my muse again....but I must say that the direct approach has never been my game...
Rick D - November 11, 2004 - Report this comment
SOTM Well written as usual, just a little depressing
Agrimorfee - November 12, 2004 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Very interesting song. I have heard White Flag maybe once, so I am not too familiar with the melody to make a judgement about pacing & creativity.
Melhi - November 17, 2004 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Nice job!
Claude Prez - November 19, 2004 - Report this comment
I was all set to give you fives til I noticed you GOT THE DECADE WRONG!!!! Don't you know SOME PEOPLE have a BIG AVERSION to INACCURACIES?!?!? Not to mention MEDICATION?!?!? Um, anyway, don't know the original but well written. Yeah, I'll be going now.
Arwen - November 20, 2004 - Report this comment
SOTM--I don't know the original...but the comment section was about as entertaining as anything I've read all night...hee!
John Jenkins - November 21, 2004 - Report this comment
It's not really like Vietnam, but this is a very good parody.
Stuart McArthur - November 23, 2004 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Martha, I liked it even though aoid said it was from the "ninties" whenever they were - what aoid needs is someone to correct him up on unimportant details
martha - November 23, 2004 - Report this comment
thanks for all the comments....this decade thing is weird!!!
Johnny D - November 25, 2004 - Report this comment

SOTM..well written, Martha
Spaff.com - November 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Poignant as usual, Martha My Dear. But the OW (original war) with Iraq was in the ninties! Just remember if you want to parody this war again, just make sure you spell it "ninties"!
martha - November 29, 2004 - Report this comment
very good!!! thanks for all the comments .. I will be so careful about my decades in future!!!!
2nz - November 29, 2004 - Report this comment
Good take on OS, and some nice ties with the original. Didn't notice the wrong decade myself, I had no idea there were so many HARDCORE Dido fans here.
Meriadoc - November 30, 2004 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Ah - give me the good ole days when we could have a nice 4-year war and it was actually good for the economy... this one isn't affecting the economy one way or the other, so trust me; it won't last 4 years... ;-) I liked the way you wove this as a sort of a love song, and it worked very well with the OS.
Paul Robinson - November 30, 2004 - Report this comment
(SOTM) - I like the read, Martha, but am DKTOS on the OS...(that's parody writer talk...)...
Jeff Reuben - December 01, 2004 - Report this comment
