The Lyrics

On your arm's an itching
That won't go away
Where the thirst of a mosquito
Was quenched today
It landed for a moment
Then it flew away
Long enough for this one mosquito
To keep his thirst at bay

And can you feel the bugs all bite
Oh they're such the pest
It's nothing but wings and stingers
In a big bloodsucking fest

If you try to slap them
They'll just fly away
And though you're wishing they'd leave you be
You're their fondest prey
You're wearing bug repellent
Whenever you're outdoors
And you wear enough of this stinking stuff
To clog up all your pores

And can you feel the bugs tonight?
Landing on your arm
You've got enough sitting there
To start a mosquito farm

And can you feel the bugs all bite
Oh they're such the pest
It's nothing but wings and stingers
In a big bloodsucking fest
It's nothing by wings and stingers
In a big bloodsucking fest

DKTOS, but these were funny lyrics. Yet, ANOTHER good one from you, Tim. *sigh*
Tim Mayfield - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Billy. I've read your parodies, and I know what stage you're in. I was there about 15 years ago. What I did about it was take up the task of trying to write non-parody works and rival what's on the radio as far as professionalism goes. Believe me, that part's easy. Took about three years of writing straight stuff for me. I've written a lot of stuff I would not be able to post here because of the cheesy-ness factor.

Someone here (I think it was Melhi, or maybe Adagio) pointed out to me that all writers tend to set little/various goals for themselves. At that point I was still pretty much in my early manage-to-write-good-parodies-in-english-at-all stage but the more experienced I have become the more I find her statement to be true. The only problem I have is pretty much that when I finally manage to realise what my current goal is, dragging it up from the subcountious level and being able to define it words, I'm normaly only days or even hours away from moving on to another subcountious goal... :-)

But, on the other hand, noone told me that having a writing addiction should be easy...

I'd like to know what part of Billy's comment implied that he's hit a rough patch, and is in need of your expert advice, Tim. It's really rather presumptuous of you to assume. When people tell Spaff: "Oh, you did it again! Another Spaff masterpiece!" They aren't saying that they consider themselves to be lesser than he is. Neither, do I feel, is Billy saying that to you, Tim. In fact, your "I've read your stuff, and here's what you need to do to get better like I am" comment was quite off putting. If I were Billy, I would probably be offended...even though I know you thought you were being nice. You weren't.
Claude Prez - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Hey Mavis, just to interject here -- when I tell Spaff "another masterpiece" or whatever, I may not be *saying* I consider myself to be lesser than he is; I just think it's obvious. Not that it bothers me. Also, from Billy and Tim's exchange, I'm guessing he's commented on his stuff before and perhaps he's said something on another song to lead him to that conclusion. (Also, if that's not what the *sigh* was about, I don't want to know). Anyway, this is really none of my business so I think I'll butt out now.
Spaff.com - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Hey Mavis, just to interject here -- whenever someone calls one of my parodies a "masterpiece" or whatever, it's because I've promised them money and/or sexual favors. It's a practice called Parodayola and I highly recommend it. I mean, can you really put a price on those little spikes of artificial self-esteem? The answer is yes.

As for this parody, it's ANOTHER good one from you, Tim. *sigh*
Johnny D - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Hey Spaff, just to outterject here -- I thank you for the Parodayola-check you sent me recently, and my Neapolitan Mastiff thanks you for the French Poodle-Orgy your Jack Russell Terrier hooked him up with.

Oh, and Tim - great parody here, man!
Spaff.com - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Ah, JDD, it finally makes sense. When you've mentioned petting your mastiff, I always thought you meant something else.

And there's plenty more Parodayola where that came from. Remember, the magic word is "masterpiece."
Johnny D - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Spaff, I must say, in all awe and admiration, that last comment of yours here is truly a masterpiece.

( KA-CHING! KA-CHING! KA-CHING! WOOF! )

Mavis, what I was saying to Billy is that he has great potential, unlike a number of other parody posters here, Billy has the inspiration it takes to write good stuff. No, I won't write a list of the others, because it's all opinion.
2Eagle - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Tim is right. Why aren't you doing lyrics for TV commercials yet?
Claude Prez - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Oops. I was so busy getting all sanctimonious I forgot to actually read the parody. Very good, Tim.
Kat - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Impressive.
Mavis - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
It was never my intention to take on the entire "A Group" in questioning Tim. At least the boys of the "A Group" anyway. I'm actually surprised at the turn-out. He should thank me for bringing the droves over. And again, Tim, your latest comment comes across as condescending to me. Billy has potential to be what? As good as you seem to think you are? You're right, it really is all opinion, but I have yet to be blown away by anything you have written.

Finally, as a side note, for the general public, if, when contemplating payment for praises galore, Spaff offers you a choice, you should ALWAYS go for the money. ;)
Tim Mayfield - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Mavis, I think you totally missed the point. I am past the stage of blooming.. I will never get any better. I am at the top of my game. Whether that top is good or not. Again, I will never get any better. Billy is not at his top yet. Each person has their potential. Billy will pass me by easily.
Mavis' Gynecologist - January 17, 2005 - Report this comment
And Mavis indeed knows from personal experience that when Spaff offers you a choice, you should ALWAYS go for the money, instead of the sexual favors.
Castro Jones - January 18, 2005 - Report this comment
Well your right about one thing. Billy will pass you by. Tim you act like your so great and your not. I think Mavis is right. You were being mean to Billy. And Billy is really nice and you shouldnt be mean to him. And you are not as great as you think you are so you should stop acting like it all the time.
Mavis - January 18, 2005 - Report this comment
Well, Tim, you'll have to excuse me for thinking that you are only saying that NOW because you're trying to save face. And you'll have to forgive me for laughing TOTALLY out loud at the notion that you actually were trying to be humble. It might be easier to believe that you were trying to pay tribute rather than belittle if I hadn't already noticed an air of self-importance billowing around you practically since the first time I noticed you on this site. Just because this is the first time I have called you on it, doesn't mean that this is the first time I had reason to.

But, I will admit that I could be wrong. It HAS happened before. (i.e. NOT choosing the money, when given the choice from Spaff. That was wrong.) However, if the point you were trying to make really was that Billy will easily be better than you one day, then you should give some honest consideration to enrolling in "Effective Point Making 101." I doubt ANYONE got that out of what you'd said on either of your previous comments. Not even your fan club.

I don't know why these new pseudonyms have come out of the woodwork to attack Tim Mayfield for what I read as an utterly inoffensive comment, but now I regret acknowledging them. Kindly leave me out of your remarks from now on. And in the words of Claude: Anyway, this is really none of my business so I think I'll butt out now.

I don't really care about the little tiff here, but I'm fairly certain that you threw yourself into the mix, Spaff. Only one comparison was made to you, and it was actually quite complimentary. And now you're asking people to leave you out? If you never wanted to be involved, you should have said so in the first place, instead of making immature jokes with Johnny D about the whole thing.
Spaff.com - January 18, 2005 - Report this comment
Yep, I'm completely guilty as charged.

i don't think that calling spaff out for his ridiculos behavior makes that person a dumbass. maybe that person noticed spaff's comments and, in spite of not caring about the situation on the whoel, they felt like someone shuold tell him that insted of talking down to people and acting like he's better then them, he should only blame himself. and the sad thnig is that if they used their real name, he probly wouldnt even have said anything because he wouldn't want them to hate him, and that is worse than using a fake name.

Mavis and Castro - And this "air of self-importance" and "you are not as great as you think you are so you should stop acting like it all the time". Are there specific instances you can tell me about or is this just a general feeling you have?

Uh...I'm new to this site and, uh...I've only submitted one parody and I don't know anything about Tim or Mavis or Billy or Spaff and his "parodayola" or Claude or Castro. But apparently "Can You Feel the Bugs Tonight" is where all the action is, so I thought I'd plug my parody here. I wrote "Snitch from the Mos Eisley Spaceport", and so far I've only gotten three votes. I want feedback, people! This is the first parody I've written! Incidently, good job on "Bugs", Tim. I give it straight 4s.
