Who's 'Lard'? The performer was Napoleon XIV.
Maybe it was covered by a group called Lard?
According to more than one website that posted the lyrics, "Lard" was the name of the group that sang the original. There was another parody which was sung by a Ross Perot impersonator, which was played on both Dr. Demento and Rush "Pinball", perhaps that's the one you're thinking of. -- MM
Do a search on this song.
Lard covered it in 1990. Since that version is more current, it shows up more frequently in search engines. Napoleon XIV, aka Jerry Samuels, was on the charts in 1966 with the original.

Thanks, Mari :) That's exactly what happened when I used the Yahoo search engine to find the author. I assume the Lard version is the one usually played on Dr. Demento, so that's the one I had in mind when I wrote the parody. -- MM
So I was right. Michael, a really good search engine to use is Google; I find that one real helpful. :)
HAHAHA -- And to add a bit more to this insane legend: In the 1980s, when Larry King signed off each night from his radio talk show he played the orig. version and jokingly credited it to friend & D.C. restaurateur, Duke Zeibert visiting with with crab cakes and other fair!
