There’s a hippo
The natives in Africa
Are all extremely afraid they’re dangerous
Not a hamster
They have mouths that eat you whole
Although they mostly choke down plants all day

You know those hippos are so strong
They swim in the Amazon
Don’t run fast but take long strides
Through aggression they will thrive
While they might look so cute when drawn
Tour guides say that’s way wrong
Your kid’s the size of just one tooth
That’s why hippos spell your doom

In the Congo
You might hear their grunts and groans
Better have a gun at hand or you’re swallowed
Your boat they’ll shove
And fight in ways that really smell*
If safari’s where they dwell, You’ll be a smear

You know those hippos all weigh tons
They break scales that they’re on
Crocodiles run and hide
When hippos shoot the evil eye
And your vacation plans are gone
Next year just go to Hong Kong
Or go and see them at the Zoo
Cause those hippos are dang rude

Birds float… Onto backs of hippos
Get rid of pesky bugs, Nature’s bug spray!

Hunters think… They’re good with Tabasco
In fights hunters are slain

Cause those hippos work in throngs
And their teeth are sharpened prongs
Through the mud you’ll see them slide
Jungle heat is way too high

And if you find one on your lawn
Who takes a liking to your pond
I think it’s high time to move
Don’t be nuts and refuse
Or you’ll be hippo…
