The Lyrics

So close, no matter how far
Couldn't stab you much more in the heart
Forever fearing who we are
And nothing else matters

Never reacted quite this way
Music's ours, sue you straight away
All these words we don't just say
'Cause nothing else matters

We will seek, and we will find you
Every day for us, someone new
We stay clear of a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what we'd do
Never cared for what we know
Now you know

So close, no matter how far
We'll kick you in the "private part"
Litigation is where we'll start
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what we'd do
Never cared for what we know
Now you know

Never reacted quite this way
Music's ours--that, you can't gainsay
Suing for music that you play
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what we'd say
Never cared for music played
Never cared for what we'd do
Never cared for what we know
Now you know

So close, no matter how far
Go and buy the disc at Wal-Mart
Forever fearing who we are
And nothing else matters

In case you've been stuck in a cave for the past 6 months and don't understand the point of this song, let me fill you in: The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has distributed about 2,000 subpoenas to ISP's to get the personal information of people sharing music online (on networks like KaZaA). They have, in turn, sued roughly 2,000 of these people for about $1,000 per song, though most settled out of court for $2,000-$5,000. Among those sued were many people under the age of 16, who didn't know better. The RIAA also sued a 66-year-old woman who proved she was not sharing music on KaZaA by the fact she has a Macintosh, for which there is no KaZaA or KaZaA-compatible software. They have since dropped the case. The point of this is, the RIAA has sued both kids who didn't know better, and elderly and obviously innocent Mac users. So, to whoever gave this a 1-1-1 you have never heard the original song, you are either unaware of the RIAA situation, or you simply enjoy ruining people's ratings by dumping 1-1-1's on random parodies. In the former two cases, don't rate a song until you have heard it and understand the parody's purpose. In the latter case, you should be ashamed of yourself for sabotaging people's ratings for fun. Even if you didn't like the parody, there's no reason to give pacing a 1--only ignorant people do that to a song that has good pacing--which makes me believe you don't read the parodies at all; you just rate them with an unfairly low score. Shame on you.

Liked the subject matter. Metallica rules both for their music and for the anti-Napster lawsuit. They got the ball rolling for copyrights. GO METALLICA

This is an ANTI-RIAA parody! It is supposed to be being sung from the RIAA's perspective. It is mocking the RIAA's actions with lines such as: So close, no matter how far We'll kick you in the "private part" Litigation is where we'll start And nothing else matters Oh, well...at least you liked it :)

Also, "Suing for music that you play And nothing else matters" is the same idea. They are concentrating all their efforts on suing people, and not doing other things.
