"No Parody"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I tried to write for the tenth time today
And practiced all the funny lyrics I'd say
My boss came over, called me a jerk
Ripped up my song, yelled, "Get back to work!"
Now I know he blew a fuse
That's okay cause now I have an excuse
Darkjon is waiting for me
That's okay, but I've got no parody

I made plans to write it tonight
It's halfway done when I grab a Bud Light
Writers block can get me so low
If I can't stay up I'll write more tomorrow

People ask me why I write parodies
Well, I write songs to impress all my friends
People tell me it must be a breeze
Then I wonder how much time did I spend?
Well I shouldn't be so hard on myself
But I think that I write better this way
The more you suffer
The more it shows you really care. Right?

Now I'll get the lyrics to fit
The pacing's off more than I'd like to admit
Late at night, I'm writing some more
Stuck again, and starting to snore

Now I know I can write songs
But it's kind of hard when I've been trying so long
I may be weird
But I'm not a geek
I'm just a writer with no parody

*taps Rick D* Hmm, he's out. *rifles through pockets* (ABC) As many of us will no doubt say, this is one close to heart. Good work, but not laugh-out-loud funny, like the way Rick is drooling on his latest masterpiece.

This parody is good for many reasons, one being that I can relate to it: slavedriving boss, people who pretend to know me buggin me for new stuff, not so much the beer (because I'm still a minor). But irregardless, this is an all fives parody. good work

(ABC) Not your best - the song kept going after your verses ended, so I had to dock you for that, but not bad.

(EGO) Writer's block sucks but this spoof doesn't.

(EGO) Bud Light just doesn't cut it against the evil forces of writer's block, Jeff - double scotch (make it a triple) is the only way I know - and you're right to ponder - why DO we do it?

EGO-- Very reminiscent of my entry for this contest. I like parodies that entales the art of parodying. Nicely done, Jeff.

Well, this isn't very egocentric at all, is it? All true, though; well done.

Artistry--Obviously I'm not the first parodist to write about writing parodies. Very good!

(Artistry) We've all been there, some more than others. Doesn't matter how many times Writer's Block hits, it really SUCKS. Well done, 555, blah blah blah.
Rex - February 20, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) When you get writer's block, just write a blockbuster. Was stopping the lyrics short done on purpose? If so, you are a freaking genius (as opposed to the ordinary run of the mill genius I had you pegged as).

(Artistry) Well, I must say I had a little problem pacing it at parts. It's a cool OS to do this to, and I loved the lyrics, this is obviously an oldie though;) PS Would you mind if I eventually record "Pee Pee in a Bottle"?
