Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

A tribute to Christopher Reeve, who died Sunday, and George Reeves, TV's original Superman, who killed himself in 1959. If there is a Superman curse, then Lord help Dean Cain and Tom Welling.
George was the black and white Clark Kent
Kids really dug his style
When he donned his cape and tights
They thought he'd would fly for miles
An ordinary man, an ordinary role
But he couldn't beat that bullet in his head.

Chorus:
Everyone's thinking
Why-ee, why-ee, why there's dead Supermen?
Does it have be them?
We will sing the anthem.
Our icons seem to die too soon when
When they're called Men of Steel, aye, aye, aye....

Chris was a blockbuster hit
'Til he fell off from his mount
He was paralyzed but strong
His survival we could count
An ordinary man, extraordinary deeds
But we cry ordinary tears because he's dead.

Chorus:
Everyone's thinking
Why-ee, why-ee, why there's dead Supermen?
Does it have be them?
We will sing the anthem.
Our icons seem to die too soon when
They're called the Men of Steel, aye, aye, aye...

Aye, aye, aye, aye,
And we cry, why-ee-why-ee-why-ee-o
And we cry, why-ee-why-ee-why-ee-o

Doesn't anybody ever know
Doesn't anybody ever know
Doesn't anybody EVER know...
How the world mourns today, today, arrrgh
How the world mourns today, today, arrrgh
Doesn't any...any...any...any...any
Doesn't any...any...any...any...any
Doesn't any...any...any...any...any
How the world mourns today, today, argh
How the world mourns today, today.

5's for lyrics that hit the nail on the head. By the way he should have been governor of California instead of that steroid case.

We all know Superman, but how many people know who Alan Smithee is?
Jonathan C. - October 12, 2004 - Report this comment
I know who Alan Smithee is. It's a pseudonym for a famed director, producer, etc. who feels ashamed to put his real name on badly made films. There was an alleged comedy movie called "Burn Hollywood Burn: An Alan Smithee Film". It was so terrible that one of the Monty Python (Terry Gilliam, I believe) who made it went under "Alan Smithee". But I don't believe "Smithee" had a son.
