The Lyrics

I just rated a fellow parodist a 344 on a parody they did, despite the fact they gave me a 555 on the same original song but my parody of it. This is kind of a rant and a wish at the same time that people who either dont leave a comment or sandbag you with 111 would stop to think a second that even though they don't like a parody/song/topic/author, everyone who writes these that parody is special to THEM in some way. By they way, even when ( most of the time) I leave a 444 or better, I still tell them why or leave a funny comment. And yes, I know not all of you are untruthful, just wishing that when people leave low ratings they explain themselves. And finally, if someone could explain a 111 to me in an honest way, I wouldn't go on a parody hunt to do the same to them. Ok now you can read this parody.
When I was here before
Saw a new parody tonight
I gave you a rating
And left a reason why
It'd all be much better
If everyone did so

I wish they were truthful
All one's aren't so useful

I tell the truth, that's not usual
Why the hell am I telling you?
So that you can improve

I know it may hurt
I think you should know why
You got 15 ones
Or got 15 fives
You all should know this
You write them yourselves
All parodies are special
But some could be better

I tell the truth, unusual
Why the hell am I telling you?
So you get a fair review

Oh...Oh...
He's commenting again
He's telling
The, truth, truth, truth
Truth....

Parodies make us happy
Some piss us off
That our own problem
Not the original songs

I tell the truth, I'm not a liar
Why the hell am I telling you?
It's just some brain food
It's just some brain food...

The t in the subtitle was supposed to be the word"thereof", not sure how I missed it, and yes I missed one of the short stanzas, so I was going to rate me 455, but it was so close I went 555 anyway ( and yes I rate my own parodies, and not always 555 either).

See my comments on http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/thedoors55.shtml. This place is not a pissing contest between people, even Offender. Judging from the number of older songs parodied here, I would guess the average age of most of you is 50-60. Some of you are twice as old as I am, and still haven't grown up. If Offender or anyone else who has inflated their own rating writes a parody, RATE IT ON ITS OWN MERIT, not who wrote it. And Offender, if you ever see this and didn't bag yourself with 8 111's ( and by now im pretty sure thats the case), and submit another song which I know or like, I will rate it fairly ( as I did of the forementioned song)

433, The rhyme scheme didn't exactly fit the song and even though this parody is true and many can relate to it, it lacks in the humor department.
Red Ant - March 06, 2005 - Report this comment
Thank you Dust D, I really appreciate your rating and your reason why. The middle category is funny, some people tend to take it literally, some substitute truth, challenging, difficulty, etc. I made this parody to push buttons intentionally, because as I said in the foreword alot of people sandbag with 111 just in spite of a group or author they do not like. While I usually care about 50/50 on votes and comments, I will settle for 111, provided ANYONE can leave any explanation as to why.
Wapner - March 06, 2005 - Report this comment
you're taking votes too seriously. People rate others with 1's for many reasons; political and religious differences, revenge votes, to make their average higher in relation to others, and also sometimes because they suck. Most parodies like these, i.e. concerning voters, are not very funny, and therefore not worth writing or reading. If you want to express opinions that are serious, write a letter to the editor. I read these for humor. Do you think a low vote is going to keep you off Letterman? Spend less time worrying about the 1 man, there are many here. Just write funny crap and don't worry about the assholes.423

Thank you Wapner for the comment and vote. Sad thing is, my sense of humor seems to be a cross of George Carlin, Dennis Leary, and my own, of which none seem funny to anyone here. And after reading a new parody this week I got really ticked off when I saw 8 111 and no comments. Every parody is special, and no I haven't read all 30,000+ of them, but the worst I have ever seen pacing is a 3 ( IMO). This parody wasn't supposed to be funny, and yes I have talked to Chuck a few times about some ratings here. Although I have only been here writing parodies about 2 weeks, it didnt take me long to figure out that some votes were all out fake. About Letterman ( or was it Leno?), I don't do MJ parodies as thats way too easy, but I have considered stand up.

Just curious Wapner, if the subtitle tipped you off, then why did you read this? Maybe you like the song, I dont know. And I was wrong on Offender, he admitted that he sandbagged himself with 8 111's to prove a point, one that I understand.

This was pretty good, Ant...minor pacing probs aside, it gets the message acoss. 445

If you like rating things, that's fine by me, but I'm content with your comments. Thank you for your maturity and (I might add) for having a good sense of humor.

Thank you Offender for a response. Was completely confused about you at first but now I understand you much better. I would personally see average rating and comments why than 111 for no reason, and I don't think I'm ever going to get multiple perfect scores as I am not perfect either. Thank you for my "good sense of humor" as apparently sarcastic, gross, nonPC things do not tend to sit well here, but thats their problem, not mine.

Sorry I missed you Kristof, but thank you for realizing what is clearly obvious to me and as well as you, but for some people when they see a certain song ( I think its more the song/group than the author or topic, but I may be completely wrong ) they just 111 it out of some kind of dissing contest. Above all else, although I have only been here a few weeks, thank you for your real name, your vote written down, why you rated it good/bad/ugly/indifferent, and left a reason(s) on how I can improve, which I believe is THE most MATURE and HONEST way do this to help people improve. You are a good person Kristof.

I love their Amnesiac album, but that's the only one I know. Besides Karma Police, I Don't know any other of their songs, so I can't vote. I think it's kind of funny, but it's a good message, so keep making them.

I think the reason your title is missing the last part is because it went past the cap amount of letters, that happened on my last submission which is about me writing a parody while drunk.
Red Ant - May 25, 2005 - Report this comment
Dominic L, how can you DKTOS? This put Radiohead on the map!! Thanks for dropping by on this.

Step-chan, yeah I didn't know about the cap at the time. Some song titles that are one long word like "Supercali...." are not cut off.

Whoa, this is weird to read. A Red Ant in his beginning stages, and on the RECEIVING end of good advice. LOL, like traveling back in time. This must have been to you what "These Songs" was to Dumb Ass Kid.
Red Ant - September 25, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks YAD; without people giving me good advice early on I would probably still be writing stuff like this. Yeah, weird even for me to read now.
