The Lyrics

Since 2003 when I started voting in something called the Capital One Mascot Showdown, I have become fascinated with mascots - their passion, their energy, their love for their teams and fans, the work they do for their communities - there's so much I love about them. From my first experience with them back then, to now 15 years later, I've almost met 50 in person and follow over 100 on social media. I wanted to write a parody to show my appreciation for the job they do, and show how much they mean to my life.
They're the stars of certain one's eyes
I know for a fact that they're mine
The mascot fan

They may not be the players,
They're awesome just the same
'Cause they've been representing
Since they started all the games
They can't slow down
No stopping now

Cheering and the stunting,
It's just constant time well spent
There's no one else I'd rather see
When I'm at a sports event
I'm always down
High-fives, low down (and hugs - and hugs)

They're the stars of certain one's eyes
I know for a fact that they're mine
Gonna be this way til the end
The mascot fan

Major league or minors,
College or the pros
I've got all my favorites
The ones I tweet the most
And when I meet them in person
My smile, it opens wide
The picture and the autograph
Come along for the furry ride

They're the stars of certain one's eyes
I know for a fact that they're mine
Gonna be this way til the end
The mascot fan

My goal is to meet as many mascots as I can
Isn't that the goal of every single mascot fan?
That's who I am.....
The mascot fan

They're the stars of certain one's eyes
I know for a fact that they're mine
Gonna be this way til the end
The mascot fan

And when I check another off my list
I know there may be more that I have missed
Love what they do, and that is the honest truth
Take each, the chance, one moment at a time
Tell them you care, worth more than a new dime
I'll never lose the passion and love inside

They're the stars of certain one's eyes
I know for a fact that they're mine
Gonna be this way til the end
The mascot fan (repeat til fade out)
To all the mascots I've met, going to meet, tweet, and follow: Thank you for all that you do, and the impact you have on your communities and your fans!
