The Lyrics

A Lord of the Rings song addressing Frodo just after he meets Strider at The Prancing Pony.
Spent half the night waiting for a hint or glance
Of the guy they call Gandalf the Grey.
Just count on a wizard! When the going gets tough,
Then those sorcerous sorts stay away.
You’re itching for action and, driven by caprice,
Warble a lively refrain.
But then you vanish, and a mystery man asks
To aid you in your plight.

You’re alarmed by the Ranger
Who has met you here,
For he’s dark, hardly well-groomed
And insulting you with his sneer.
But he knows of your mission
And the violence that you flee.
You won’t be harmed by the Ranger;
You will find he is sincere.

So unsure of Strider, but very soon you’ll learn
To trust that he’s watching your back.
This gold does not glitter. While he wanders, he’s wise
To the ways of the riders in black.
You‘re such an innocent, you’ve got to have a guide,
So stick with him when you leave.
Though he’s a stranger, he will shield you from danger
And foil your enemies.

You’re alarmed by the Ranger
Who has met you here,
For he’s dark, hardly well-groomed
And insulting you with his sneer.
But he knows of your mission
And the violence that you flee.
You won’t be harmed by the Ranger;
You will find he is sincere.

Don't be alarmed by the Ranger;
You will find he is sincere.

Lord of the Rings and Moby Dick....novel ideas populating today's parody choices. I think I've booked my literature quotient for today, but that doesn't mean either you or McK should limit the lit output. Sad to see so few votes today. Nice wordsmithing again, BP!

Thanks, Warren! I haven't had a chance to look at the new stuff today; Moby Dick sounds intriguing indeed! I can't seem to get enough of these lit / movie / TV parodies; I don't know if I'm a scholar or just a couch potato, but I love that stuff!

Bilbopooh - I'm not a "Rings" fan, but I could glean enough from reading this that it has potential. I recognise fine word smithing when I see it and I completely agree with WarrenB about the word smithing. I just wish I were more into the "Rings". I appreciate the work you put into this. FIne write.

Gotta love Strider, Aragorn and all of those guys! Personally I hated the movies with exception for the first one, but this parody was awesome and even I did a few parodies of Lord of the Rings before.

Many thanks, Guy and Matthias! I think the first movie was probably the best, though there was a lot I loved about the last movie too, certain baffling departures aside...

ABC: Not a fan of LOTR or Sarah McLachlan...so this was kind of lost on me sorry.

This parody was a lot like the OS...well-made, airy but not terribly exciting. I just wish there was some giggles.

(ABC5) I've seen the films, but I don't remember anything about a Strider. Maybe the films cut him, maybe my memory hates me again, who knows? What I do know is that while this parody is well written and paced, the subject matter flies over my head along with any jokes based off said subject. Not your fault, it's all mine.

Simple, yet effective, not really familiar with the characters or film at hand though so it made it a bit hard for me to follow.

(ABC Q & R) Good job on general quality and pacing/rhyming, but I was never a fan of "Lord of the Rings", and this was all Greek to me so to speak. Love Sarah McLachlan, though, so I at least understood the OS. 5-3-5.
