The Lyrics

The Kentucky Derby was won by a 50-1 shot, Giacomo. Bellamy Road, a 9-2 shot going in, finished 7th in the 20-horse field. That suggests he's not long for this world, since he's owned by George Steinbrenner. Horses that do badly in races are said to end up in "the glue factory."
It's been seven months since that bad day
since the Yanks threw flag away.
I scream out every night and weep all day
since the Yanks threw flag away.
Now they look gone but I do whatever I want.
I can train a horse if I choose.
I can watch the Derby in a fancy restaurant
but racing, I said racing don't take away these blues.

Saw nothing, so you're...
nothing, so you're now glue!

It's been so homely, these games up here.
I've still heard that lousy song.
(Oh whoa whoa whoa, whoa...)
Nothing can speed up my horse's running.
Tell me, Torre, where did I go wrong?
I can put my hopes on each player I see
but none of them are true.
(Oh whoa whoa whoa, whoa...)
I went to the Derby and guess what they showed me?
Guess what they showed me?
I say, horse, you better run from faster than I saw you do
you equine fool!

'Cause nothing, so you're...
nothing, so you're now glue!

(instrumental break)

All the flowers, roses to the winner
at the track yard
with me they don't go away.
(Oh whoa whoa whoa, whoa...)
I know that living with the Yankees is sometimes hard
but I won't give that horse another try!

Showed nothing and he's...
nothing and he's now glue!

Showed nothing and he's...
nothing and he's now glue!

Showed nothing and he's...
nothing and he's now glue!

Wish I'd had a buck on Giacomo! But, I didn't so, I'm spending 3 more 5s on your parody.

The odds of this parody statistically were 125:1 against a victory, but you won.

Maybe George should toss a saddle on A-Rod.

No, Rex, you don't want to ride a horse with the Number 13. Then, of course, there's Jason Giambi and his nag-ging injuries. The Daily News had a great headline: "SADDLE SORE." And this was after the Yanks got a shutout!
