The Lyrics

There's a televangelist named Bill Keller who compares the choice between Romney and Obama to "flipping a coin where Satan is on both sides" so he's urging people to write in Jesus on their ballots this November instead. He's already gotten 190,000 people to pledge to do so. Maybe this means Jesus will be the next spoiler candidate....
Bill says Obama's evil, and Romney sure is, too
So this is what that televangelist says we must do:
Our Savior, Messiah, write him in for president!
Jesus Christ is running for president!

Could Jesus be a spoiler, like Nader used to be?
November's months away so we'll just have to wait and see
Our Savior, Messiah, write him in for president
Jesus Christ is running for president!

JC would be the first Hebrew candidate. At 2011 years 45 weeks, he'd be much older than Reagan or McCain was on election day. They were still on this Earth and had valid birth certificates and Social Security numbers. So JC, along with BHO, might not be allowed on the ballots in Arizona and Ohio. ;^)

Oh, the democrats would never go for that. They have a thing about presidential candidates whom they perceive to be riding on their daddy's coattails.

Interesting. First line really rollicks off the tongue - would be fun to go around chanting it in crowds.

In 1984 the main contenders were Reagan and Mondale. Believe it or not ZZ Top ran for President too! They could've been a 3 man triumpherant or junta in the White House. They did manage to make it on the ballot in their home state of Texas, where they got 50,000 or so votes. Also for 1980 Joe Walsh ran for the Oval Office promising free gasoline for everyone.

Comedian Pat Paulsen of "The Smothers Comedy Brothers Hour" was one of the first guys to make a running gag out of running for President.

Pip, You cannae vote for him anyway -he's dead. I am sure in American elections dead people have voted before, but I don't think a dead person has ever been voted for...

He was sort of dead when he was alive anyway!
