"Proud Country Wester"

The Lyrics

Okay, I am a Newf, therefore I need to have parodied at least one Newfoundland song. And unlike most of my other parodies, this is one I wrote a while back. I did not come up with this on the spot or immediately upon submission. So there is a bit more effort. This song will be best understood if you know of the original song which talks about how good it is to be from Newfoundland. This is for all you yanks out there! And yes, I am able to make fun of my own heritage as you will see in one of the verses. One line has been changed from the one I wrote first, and that is "committed everyday" near the end, which I originally intended to be "committed round the bay." But it's solid now I guess. Enjoy!
CHORUS
I'm a country wester, born and bred
And I'll be one till I die
I'm proud to be from Texas, boy
And here's the reasons why
I can ride o'er the plains
And I can eat an eight inch steak
There's no place I would rather live
Well, maybe in Salt Lake

I spent some time in Newfoundland
And nearly lost my mind
The people there were too dumb for me
Nobody could tell the time
Their English wasn't quite the best
Nor was their fishery
That may be good for Newfoundland
But it's no damn good for me

CHORUS

In Santa Fe, Latinos say
That they own El Paso
And also all the Spanish words
Like fajita and lasso
And if they wanna fight for her
Then I'll surely have a say
And if it means our heritage
Then we'll screw with Santa Fe

CHORUS

The Mexicans are crossing o'er
Into the USA
Fooling around in Mexico
And trying to get away
What could have been the border
To a new and brighter day
Has opened the gate for felony
Committed everyday

CHORUS
