The Lyrics

If you haven't read Ender's Game (the best book ever) then you won't understand this. It is sung by Ender Wiggin immediately following the conclusion of Ender's Game.
I had amazing brains
Was taken from my parents as a boy
Can't get off the bloodstains,
Since I learned that I was just a toy.

One two three four
Killed the bugs every day
I thought it was just a game.
You think I saved your life,
Now I'm called the Xenocide.

Then I found one last egg,
Since she came I've seen things as they are
It was to be my fate
Their planet gone, that awful fireball.
It was too late, no one saw the errors of their ways
I must stop the next xenocide somehow.
Time's almost up.

One two three four
Killed the bugs every day
I thought it was just a game.
You think I saved your life,
You fools praise my xenocide.

Killed the bugs every day
I thought it was just a game.
You think I saved your life,
You fools praise my xenocide.

I bet you'd only run
If you saw what flows inside
My mind
I'd have done it differently
If it were up to me to decide
But I could not

Killed the bugs every day
I thought it was just a game.
You think I saved your life,
You fools praise my xenocide.

Killed the bugs every day
I thought it was just a game.
You think I saved your life,
You fools praise my xenocide.

Since that awful day,
Felt like suicide,
But I must remain.
One two three four

I don't know if "Ender's Game" is the best book ever, but I'll agree it's among the candidates. It's one of those you just don't put down until you've read it thrugh. May I recommend "Startide Rising" by David Brin for a similar experience? (Yet a completely different book).

Haven't read the book, but sounds interesting (sounds sci-fi, and I'm a sci-fi geek)

(ABC-X) DKTOS on the book and the song but a nice read just the same.

DKTOS... or the subject matter either - but if Peter's right and it's in the same sort of ballpark as Startide Rising, then I must look into it :-)

(ABC-X) - Unfamiliar with OS and book but good read.
