The Lyrics

This is essentially a summary of Sir Walter Scott's magnum opus of historical fiction that is "Ivanhoe." It is my favourite book currently, and I decided to write a song about it.
Stanza I.
Wilfred of Ivanhoe was bound for fame and glory,
But he lost inheritance
Just 'cos his girl Rowena might not fit the story
Of the Saxons that were tense
From th' oppression of the Normans who were ruling
All of England. They were cruel,
Killing off the Saxon language and the Saxons,
Who were left with little more than bowls of gruel!
Cedric offered someone else,
But young Wilfred didn't show her what he felt!

Refrain.
So he fought all the evil Normans
Who were standing in the way
Of a justice merry England never would want to forgo--
Wilfred of Ivanhoe!

Stanza II.
Wilfred of Ivanhoe got banged up in a tourney,
But Rebecca patched him up.
With all her help, he could now go back to his journey,
But was there more trouble? Yup!
Soon Rebecca was condemned to die by burning
Just because she was a Jew!
In the meantime Wilfred had a greater yearning
For his loved one who'd fain do the things he'd do!
Cedric offered someone else,
But young Wilfred didn't show her what he felt!

(Refrain)

Bridge.
Sometimes I think of what he'd be doing
If he just were alive today--
Whether he'd be a Tory or somehow Labourphile
Or a Communist--can't say
Quite for certain. All that I will sing of
Is that which we surely know!
He eventually got his lady named Rowena--
Wilfred of Ivanhoe!

(Refrain)

Wilfred of Ivanhoe was bound for fame and glory...
Sir Walter Scott has been under appreciated in the last century or so. I hope you who view this parody will check out his books sometime.

This is seriously genius. It got me interested in Ivanhoe for the first time ever. The author of this should consider starting a new genre of this type of parody.
