The Lyrics

I heard this song playing on my track list on a day during my exam period on April 2003, and having been bored out of my mind studying calculus, I decided to have some fun.

Most of you have heard most of the news about the War on Iraq, and I'll admit I don't know all that I should about the political side of it, so this is just a little bit of lyrics to make fun of what I do know.

I've also included select mock conversations that happen in the song, figuring that it's probably rather dull and short without them, and these really pull the whole thing together.
[Dubya:] Hey bitch, how you doin' man?
[Saddam:] All right.
[Dubya:] It's been a while man, life's so rad!
Cruise missiles' my favorite man, don't ya love'em?
[Saddam:] Yeah
[Dubya:] Aw man, you want a war?
[Saddam:] All right.
[Dubya:] Aw man, this shit sucks ass. I'm so glad my dad screwed you over and stuff.
[Saddam:] Yeah.
[Dubya:] Hey, did you know about the party after the war?
[Saddam:] Yeah.
[Dubya:] Aw man, it's gonna be the best, I'm so stoned! Take it easy bitch.

I'm me
Big Cheese
President
I am
I can
Attack
Fear me
Know me

If you want to destroy his weapons
Bomb Iraq while he hides away

[Blair:] Hey, what's up?
[Dubya:] Not much.
[Blair:] Did you hear about the bio-threat?
[Dubya:] Yeah.
[Blair:] Um, I think I'm gonna war but, the UN don't really wanna war. Could I get a sanction?

Oh no
Peace goes
Peace gone
Bye-bye
Yay I
I Bomb
I War
And I Buy

If you want to destroy his weapons
Bomb Iraq while he hides away
Watch war unravel, I'll soon dictate
Starting chemical war (Starting nuclear war)
I've come unchecked!

If you want to destroy his weapons
Bomb Iraq while he hides away
Watch war unravel, I'll soon dictate
Starting chemical war (Starting nuclear war)
I've come unchecked!

I don't want to destroy your oil-fields
Lets be friends and I'll just invade
It's good to see you hiding there with your Arabian country
Starting chemical war (Starting nuclear war)
I've come unchecked!

Pretty good. It could have done without the swear words, but it's pretty good.

D, I found it to be quite fragmented. The use of a dialogue format as a vehicle obstructs the flow. I'm not sure what to make of the one-word replys...as if they were something written by Fred Durst (w/out the cello). Everyone KNOWS that it's not Weezer-like...just by reading the lyrics. The phrasing throws the structural balance off. Perhaps it's in binary form, but even so, it could have flown easier. I agree with K. The language is not used in the right context nor is it stylistic of pop-rock (ha! they'd wished they were punk NOW!). It seems to degrade the lyrics to the point of poor-taste. Good lyrics do contain satire however, but satire does not necessarily mean the use of obscene words. For example, the phrase 'God Damn Son of a Mother Shit Fucking Cunt, Bush!' would make any song tasteless. Now that WAS an over exaggeration, but I feel that the song could have done without the language.
