Parody Song Title:

"Sitting in Shul"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

There were sales
in the stores,
But I never went out shopping
'Cause on Shabbes I pass the time
Sitting in shul.

There were shows,
movies too,
But I never saw them playing
No I never saw them at all
Sitting in shul.

Then there was You Tube
and wonderful websites
they told me, I said:
Not till Shabbes is through, thank you

There were things
I could do
Without turning on the TV
So I never watched it at all
Sitting in shul.

Then there was baseball
Come root for the Nationals,
they told me, I said:
Not till Shabbes is through, thank you

There were other
shuls too
But I never went exploring
My own synagogue's where I enjoy
Sitting in shul.
Sitting in shul.

WM: These lyrics are worthy of The Music Man's great love duo, and convey that same sense of as-is contentment until the unexpected discovery of something new -- maybe when " Shabbes is through".

I'm a "Music Man" fan and enjoyed this parody a lot.

The Red Sox could have used your prayers. Now they get a Kaddish.

In our high school production of Music Man the girl who played the lead was an old country Jew. You seem well educated in this.

Wendy - Barbara Cook! You have the Original Broadway Cast album (so do I)! Eagle - I always aspired to play Harold Hill, but now I am too old. Might I audition for Mayor Shinn? ;D
