Parody Song Title:

"Somebody Gong Those Silly Thong Songs"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I'm only out to write
And I'm reelin' from the sight of a brand new Shrub song
Somebody do this buddy's swan song

Hey, Doncha play another one of those Silly thong all wrong songs
It makes me reel and foam like I'd twist from rabies, like I'd twist from rabies

So please pray for me; a bad malady
We're mad cause he bleeds everybody dry-y-y-y
It's a real hurtin' thong; stuck on a Shrub doin' wrong
I know I don't feel this way alone

Hey, Doncha play another one of those silly thong all wrong songs
It makes me reel and foam like I'd twist from rabies, like I'd twist from rabies

So please pray for me; a bad malady
We're mad cause he bleeds everybody dry-y-y-y
It's a real hurtin' thong; it's stuck on Shrub doin' wrong
I know I don't feel this way alone

So hey, silly thong won't you stop those Schrub all wrong songs
Click the comment block so we can gong and shock
All those wrong all day long thong songs

Are you upset at silly THONG songs, or silly TONG, as in William, songs? You can do a funny song about either one, but this was so disjointed that, in all fairness, I couldn't vote on it.
Guy DiRito - June 17, 2003 - Report this comment
It looks that way because I submitted it over the weekend and it worked when I had the correct name and other thing in it but was rejected by the admin on this site because it violates rule number 7. Not permitted to parody another author on this site, but there is no problem with this one that just happens to use the same tong, I mean song as mine but all it does is call Italian nationals and Italian Americans wops. This kind of thing IS permitted, however. http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/bjthomas3.shtml I was told by the admin on this site that there is nothing in the rules about using ethnic slurs and racial comments. So now I wonder how many people will use these little gem words that we have in our language to have poetic license to spread racism and bigotry. \O/

I prefer "Thong Songs" to "Sk8terboi songs". Please no more of those! Any one agree? Guy has a right to his opinion , and It was refreshing to see a B J Thomas tune on the board.
Tone-Def - June 17, 2003 - Report this comment
didn't malcolm basically do this a long time ago?

Please don't miss the point I am trying to make here. It makes no difference who did it and when it was done. I read it for the first time yesterday when I tried to use another author's name in good parody fun. It was rejected. I asked why and was told that this is against rule 7 and it is. My bad for missing that. But I had remembered seeing another BJ Thomas song that looked like it was doing the same thing as mine. On closer inspection I took note that it was used an ethnic slur to make the parody. I questioned this as well and was told the there is nothing in the rules about doing this. The problem is that innocent fun is against the rules when it applies to another author. This is fine I can respect it, so I changed the words to this and resubmitted. The fact that racism is permitted here is my problem. The racism thing seems way worse than a little friendly one-ups-man-ship among authors. I'd like to take a vote - post a comment and say yes if you think ethnic slurs are good for this board and no if you think they are not. And I dare anyone to write one that has ethnic or racial slurs and see if it gets posted.

But it's Chuck's site. He can do what he wants.
Pat - June 17, 2003 - Report this comment
Of course racial slurs are not good for the board!
Guy DiRIto - June 17, 2003 - Report this comment
Yes he can. He holds the admin rights. I'm just asking to take a poll on how many people would like to see racial and ethnic stuff out here. Just say yes if you like it and No if you don't and I guess you can put undecided if you need to think about it.
Claude Prez - June 17, 2003 - Report this comment
Sure; I'd like to see racial and ethnic stuff here, as long as it's funny. If it's not, I'll ignore it. You make a good point, Guy, about being singled out; I think it's quite possible Chuck is a little protective of Tong. But as I said, that's his prerogative. He also gets a lot of submissions and I think he actually hates to reject stuff and ends up saying "what the hell" to most of it. I wouldn't take it personally. Except to maybe be a little flattered that you're so good at what you do he may find you somewhat threatening.
ChuckyG - June 18, 2003 - Report this comment
I'm not any more protective of William Tong, than I am anyone else. I don't want the site to become filled with parodies about other parody authors, because then it loses any appeal to people who don't visit the site on a regular basis. Also, parodies about non-public figures could be considered slander. While it's possible that by submitting parodies, you become well known enough to justify public commentary without the risk of slander, I'm not sure (I'm not a lawyer), and I don't want anyone to find out the hard way. as far as racist stuff goes, this can be taken way out of hand quickly. Every parody dealing with "rag-heads" or using the word gay, or rap songs that use the n-word, etc. would be considered suspect, and it would certainly take more time to filter it out. Removing stuff already on the site would be an even bigger under taking, and I doubt I have the time to even attempt it.
ChuckyG - June 18, 2003 - Report this comment
I also wasn't going to let this through the second time either. It was clear the song was still about William Tong. He just changed the name slightly, so the author could complain publicly. I don't really care, as far as I'm concerned, the issue is moot at this point. I don't see any need to change my policies.
Michael Pacholek - June 18, 2003 - Report this comment
Now that I know it's a somebody-done-Tong-wrong song, I commend the effort, if not the sentiment. As for ethnic stuff, well, Chucky let me get away with "Only the Egg Foo Young," but then, that was making fun of Chinese restaurants, not so much Chinese people. But when I tried to turn "In Da Club" into "Wit Da Shrub," I had to change all the n-words to "sucka"s. And what about all the "Sk8er Boi" slop and swipes at the N*Stinkers, Backstreet Boys and other acts for supposedly being gay? It's a slippery slope. Come to think of it, "Slippery Slope" isn't a bad title for a song, or an album.

hey Guy DiRito........ chill man..... I seem to get away with a bit, Guy... I don't know why.. I wrote a few of him, and he of me.. but no real acidic stuff.. Bill Tong has a viewpoint.. I agree with some, not all of his stuff... I think Mik Pacholek is rough on me sometimes.. I mean my mind goes a million miles an hour with these things, and I usually write a parody in about five minutes.. I've taken a few light hearted swipes at the florios (the oreo florio thing still makes me laugh).. merry and pips.. Phil alexander.. but ALL IN FUN put in what you want.. Chuck is pretty good, and he usually allows some real latitude with some things.. keep up your good work.. you have written some gems... I write about homos and italians, koreans.. chinese... scotsmen (like me) ALL IN FUN.. the "drained wops keep falling on my head" was a punchline from a joke with two vampires and an alligator ata bridge in venice.. where the vampire drains the blood and drops the bodies over... after about six,. they hear singing from the canal.. it's the alligator.. get it?? and for the record.. poking fun at a "race" I don't think is racism.. true hatred or denial of life, respect and liberty towards a particular race is disgusting... sorry I ranted.. but there.. keep writing man,, you got talent

Give me a break, Guy! Misspelling my name allowed you to sneak in an attack parody. If I were allowed to respond in kind, you would be honored with a parody of "My Sharona." :-)

Wildman - i agree totally about all these Avril Lavigne songs. What's the big deal about her? She's no more offensive than a lot of the pop acts out there. I think it might just be trendy at the moment to bash her.

Michael - i think there is an album by some kind of rock band called Slippery Slope but i can't really remember more than that :/

There seems to be a double standard here. I'm being accused of slapping W. Tong around here and he is not even named. Now today this appears:``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/thedoobiebrothers7.shtml```````` I am not going to make a big deal out of the parody with my name on the title, even though it is something that CG says he doesn't want on the site. I guess it's OK as long as we don't use Tong in any titles. You may be correct in your assumptions, Claude, or CG just maybe didn't identify my last name with a parody author here. Gee whiz by tomorrow I will have 100 songs out here, ya think? I made it a point to call Malcolm on the WOP song just because I was trying to point out a double standard. Actually if anyone is that thin skinned about a little parody, then they have no business writing parodies out here. And anyone who does not have enough cojones to click the comment check on when they submit, in my opinion, has no business writing out here. If you wrote it you should have the presence of mind to allow others to opine.. At the very least the comment block should be on as the default, not off. It is a fine line when we parody. We can be ugly or cool. I believe that Malcolm was not being ugly with his parody on the drained wops - actually I thought it was rather funny. I was not being malicious toward Mr Tong with my song either, but as CG says I had to change it and resubmit and he almost did not post it then. It happens to be true what the song says. Mr Tong is a good parody author and I vote for his songs fairly. If his pace is a 5 I give him a 5 which it usually is. If it is funny I give him his due. My point in this parody William is that you are just so repetaitive, always about the same thing, and since you don't allow comments this was the only way to tell you. I would like to see some originality from you. I think it would be refreshing. And just once in a while leave a comment block on so we can talk to you. This was all that my parody on you was about. I respect your ability to write and would like you to respect mine in kind. And I consider anyone who writes about what I do or how I express myself in my writings to be complimentary, as long as it is true and it is not ugly. Mike tells the truth in his parody on me today and I can readily see where he is coming from. I found it refreshing and at least I know people are paying attention to me out here. After all isn't that the reason we write out here? Anyone quit their day job since they started writing? ,,, Anyone??? Thought not.

Kudos for using the word 'opine' :)
Guy DiRito - July 14, 2003 - Report this comment
I've used it in some of my parodies. Is this like one of your favorite words or something? Bill O'Reilly uses it often.
Hoeveel - July 14, 2003 - Report this comment
No, it's just not many people use it, or seem to know about it. It's kind of doubly impressive considering where you are from :Þ ;);
