Original Song Title:

"Those Were The Days"

Original Performer:

Caroll O'Connor & Jean Stapleton TV Sitcom Theme

Parody Song Title:

"Too Many Gays"

Parody Written by:

Guy DiRito

The Lyrics

Boys that play - Queen for a day.
Thongs worn in their gay parades.
Guys like us don't need these 'maids'.
All these gay blades.

Now you can't tell Barb from Ken,
Boys are girls who once were men,
Mystery confused a can like 'her' skirt mover for men.

Didn't need to declare, mate.
Whether you were gay or straight,
Gee my old canal would hate,
Lettin' in gays.

Mike - Why you bein' so UGLY? Are you bi-polar or something? One comment you are fine then the next you are such a jerk. I'll write anything that suits my creativity, thank you. And I'll warn you just once about personal attacks out here and this is it. I count to two and 'meathead' is one.

It's impossible to be bipolar, since both polar ice caps are being melted due to Bush's environmental policy.

I'm getting on one of your songs to thank you for the kind words you're throwing my way. There is also another song called "Those Were the Days" by Mary Hopkins which lends itself quite nicely to the same idea-- "Those were the Gays, my friend, they poked each other's end, they sang and danced, and minced across the bay.......etc. I like your stuff, and Phil and Jeff

Wow.. small mindedness is never funny. It's sad to see such hateful people are so rampant in our society still. Thanks, Mr. Anti-Progression.

Why, thank you Courtney, these gays should really learn their place.

Guy, when Randy Newman did "Short People", which as you and I know was a clever anti predjudice song, lots of people didn't get it. I knew a woman who was 4'11" who hated it. People are so used to people only writing songs about themselves and their beliefs, that they find it shocking when someone plays devil's advocate or writes from a position that has nothing to do with themselves. What a world of possibilities opens opens up when you can do that. Easily one fourth of my work is from a female point of view, and I ain't even gay. (But I do have someone to sing it) I look at every song as a character play, as I've seen you do. That doesn't mean that I'm going to pretend I'm a clansman and write hate songs, my goal, like yours is to amuse. So I completely understand, and it's also why I never finished the song I briefly quoted above. So read this too, Courtney

Rick - Exactly. But I think you should have finished that song. This is parody and this is what it is all about.

I got all excited and though Guy wrote another gay bashing parody, but this is just an old one... come on Guy, bash some more gays, we know you love it.

I liked every verse except the last one. It's not :Short People", but on the other hand, it has some funny lines. I see Guy saying in this song "they do what they do, I don't condemn it, but I don't want a part of it"--just as much as one could say about the lifestyle of a born-again Christian.

Ag - No it's really not about me or my beliefs. It's just parody. Just because I write something does not mean I live it any more than Ed O'Neill is a shoe salesman from Chicago named Al Bundy.
