The Lyrics

I am hardpressed to find a band more inaudible and yet more enjoyable than CCR. I went to see them in concert this year and I was the youngest one there by about 20 years.
You know I was thinkin'
How to make this rhyme
It don't have to make sense
'cause I'm just wastin' time

We went through the grapevine
Before that Marvin Gaye
Now I've got to mumble
So he won't know what to say

Growl when you mumble
Improvise away
Get in a rowboat, go insane
It don't rhyme but that's OK

What's this line you don't know?
Everyone loves my style
Quiet down for Susie
We solo for a while

If you understand this, wow
I can't believe it's true
(could) you please tell me what I said
'cause I'll be askin' you

Growl when you mumble
Improvise away
But if I don't know go to Spain
It don't rhyme but that's OK

Growl when you mumble
Improvise away
Cut off a Bozo in the rain
It don't rhyme but that's OK

There's no dictionary
That contains the sound
I'm the greatest mumbler
Well, a new king has been crowned

Then I add some growlin'
It don't sound absurd
People come from all around
But no one knows the words

Growl when you mumble
Improvise away
Why don't ya let go of the plane
It don't rhyme but that's OK

Growl when you mumble
Improvise away
Beat up a Hobo on the train
It don't rhyme but that's OK

Growl when you mumble
Improvise away
Buy me a snow cone, make it plain
It don't rhyme but that's OK
I guess if you want to know how old I am, it's somewhere between 20 and 22. See you next parody. And Merry Christmas, or Merry ______ <--- (Whatever holiday it currently is now)

Thanks Adagio. If you'll excuse me, I need to go listen to "Come Together" again, for pacing purposes. See you soon.

ABD from Down Under: Thanks, man. Guy: If I ever get tired of their rhythme, I'll sit down and try to decipher it and it's good to know I'm not the only one. Adagio: Check your song, Miss Purdy.

Pretty fun to read; some good soundalikes. And very good pacing.

2nz - Yup. Except I thought they said "Scowl when you stumble, get back on your feet". And as you so adroitly pointed out, with their stuff it really doesn't matter (a trait they share with Steve Miller, I've noticed, as I discern you have also). Oh, I hear you put some laudatory words next to my name SOMEWHERE on this site. Thank you. I'm dying to read them, but I can't find them and now here I am at 1:11 in the morning Pacific Time BEGGING for a second helping of already issued praise. Well, having done that I sense that is my cue to hit the highway, turn around and come back for my diploma.

I'm hard-pressed to understand any CCR or Steve Miller song, kind of like I'm hard-pressed to understand your comment in it's entirity. However, I think you mentioned in there that you don't know where the post is. Go to the 'song parodies' section of the message boards. Ya can't miss it once you enter. And enjoy your week man.

2nz - Thanks, Melhi also pointed out how to locate the MessageBoard. I appreciate your recommendation and posted back on the board for you and the others who wrote. Ah...I see the part you were unable to decipher in my comment last night. When I left last night I was finished packing my personal items in preparation for my termination today. Known about it for 8 months now. They are moving our Department to another State where wages are less, overtime rules are less stringent, etc., and I wasn't really invited (and wouldn't have gone anyway). So my diploma reference was a strange, late night attempt at humor. Actually, today has been a very positive experience for me here. I sent a note around to our Dept. and some of the people I worked with from Development that I had good working relationships with and attached a poem about "Transitioning", moving from one phase of life to another. Got a lot of nice notes back and more than a few personal visits that were very warm and caring. So I'm out of here on a good note and that's the way I wanted it. Looking forward to getting away and kicking back, will be checking out the site and maybe posting a little. Later.
