The Lyrics

How many of you can "really!" stand the original version of this song?
They call this song,
It’s a Small World After All.
And if you’ve heard that much,
Then you’ve heard it all.
It’s too much for me to bear
So it’s time you’re aware
This song drives me up the wall.

Chorus:
This song drives me up the wall.
This song drives me up the wall.
This song drives me up the wall.
Drives me up, the wall.

There is just two verses,
And one chorus line.
I’ll lose my lunch,
Like I’ve lost my mind.
It’s not hard to decide,
To stay the hell off the ride.
This song drives me up the wall!

Chorus:
This song drives me up the wall.
This song drives me up the wall.
This song drives me up the wall.
Right straight up, the wall!
Don't drive me up the wall anymore! VOTE and/or COMMENT!

Excellent work! Minus the pacing issues of the first verst, but everything else was perfect...I think this describes that song perfectly!

Thanks Abbott! And yes, I agree that the first verse was a little windy, but as I look back on it now, I find it difficult to make it any shorter without rewriting the whole thing with different lyrics entirely. This is indeed a very tricky song to parody even though it doesn't look that way, due to it's simplicity and high usage of one syllable words. It sure was a challenge! But once again, thanks for your V & C, I really appreciate it! :-)

A nice idea, JIN, let down by pacing. I'm not in total agreement with Abbott: the second verse is a bit messy as well. It's always worth taking a bit more time to get that right, and sometimes you'll have to replace lines until it fits...a bit like a jigsaw. And sometimes a rewrite is needed if it's just not flowing...I've done it many times. For example...

It's a song, annoying
A song that grates
It's a song almost
Everybody hates
There's so much we can share
But I don't really care
This song drives me up the wall

...keeps the sentiment, but flows better. Keep writing! 344

Seconding Kristof's judgment but (being an old softy) still scoring this high. Good job...the only way a person can get this song out of the mind is to have it surgically removed. ;D

You're not the only one with that ear worm. That was played to death in the seventies and the theme was a fad - Small World this, Small World that.

This song drives me to give you 5's

5s for the sentiment alone.

I'm with 2Eagle on this one. When I was about 10 or so one summer day my little sister was singing(?) this "Small World" ditty ALL DAY LONG. She was driving everyone "up the wall" that! On a more humorous note our second cousin from the Air Force was here for a weekend and he kept singing those lines from "Rhinestone Cowboy" (Glen Campbell): "I've been walking these streets alone, singing the same old song...". Yeah, SINGING THE SAME OLD SONG, geddit? ; - ) Great parody. Keep it up.
