Original Song Title:

"You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To"

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"You'd Be Hot Stuff to Come Home To"

Parody Written by:

Al Silver

The Lyrics

The new lyrics may shock some, but I think they're an antidote to the overly sentimental original.
You’d be so nice to come home to,
You’d be so nice by the fire,
Though the scent of you
Was like barbecue,
It’s your brownish hue
I’d admire.
Over coals in a hibachi,
Rotating on a spit, done to a turn,
You'd be so dark,
You'd be Joan of Arc
To come home to and burn.

Al - Your original songs look like they all come from my band's set list! I lead, play, and sing in a group which revels in classic standards. ;D

O. M. Ribber: You, Wendy, Lifeliver, Phil Alexander, etc., are very kind to take the time to comment. I'm glad your musical taste is similar to mine; the parodies I've read by contributors are largely based on modern pop songs. That puts geezers like me in a very small niche. I have a feeling that, besides the mischievous one-bomber, voters may be giving a "1" for pacing simply because they don't know the original. If they are interested, they can always go to YouTube to hear Ella Fitzgerald sing definitive versions from her Songbooks of Porter, Berlin, and Rodgers & Hart. Parodies cry out for performance. You can hear the delightful Pam Peterson do just that on YouTube. I sent her some of my stuff as a gift and she asked for and received my permission to share it with her fellow parody performers. Mr. Ribber, have you considered incorporating parodies in your concerts? Maybe we could all put on a show. I'm sure Grandpa will let us use the old barn. With Judy, Mickey and Busby Berkeley on hand, we can't miss.

A hot item. If you wanna write about roasting people alive, you've gotta expect some disapproval, but you have to wonder whether the disapprovers know what a parody is.

This is too short to earn top votes from me. What I do in this situation, if I really want to use the OS, is run through it at least twice, more if you want, just as you did with 'My favorite flicks'. 534
