Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Porch Dogs"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

Mitt Romney, John McCain, and the Bushs against Trump.
They ain't nothin' but mere porch dogs
barkin' all the time
They ain't nothin' but sad porch dogs
barkin' all the time
Well, you can't defeat the Trump camp
'cause Trump won't be undermined!

Mitt Romney's nothin' but a smartass
spewed a long-winded diatribe
McCain is a pain in the ass
Hanoi Hilton is his pride
Well, the Bushs are forgotten
Want to take on Trump... well you better get in line!

All your efforts- waste of time!

They ain't nothin' but mere porch dogs
barkin' all the time
They ain't nothin' but sad porch dogs
barkin' all the time
Well, you can't defeat the Trump camp
'cause Trump won't be undermined!

Mitt Romney's nothin' but a smartass
spewed a long-winded diatribe
McCain is a pain in the ass
Hanoi Hilton is his pride
Well, the Bushs are forgotten
Want to take on Trump... well you better get in line!

All your efforts- waste of time!

RNC traitors have no bite, they really just wimper and whine!
A porch dog is a person who makes rabid attacks that are are no threat to the intended victim. Based on small porch dogs that bark annoyingly at passers-by but aren't any real threat.

Trump has just overcome the bad weeks and 10% lead of Hillary. He's leading in the CNN poll 45% to Clinton's 43% nationally. Close again, but Trump's gaining traction again.

The election will not be based on popular vote, but by something called electoral votes. By that measure, Trump's prospects are as dismal as ever. FYI.

Instead of repeating the first two stanzas per the OS, you could have been ambitious and regaled us with two new final verses.

Oh, I don't fix laziness. I just monitor it..... You're lazy.

@detractors, no, you fail as Trump has defeated all his critics through the entire campaign. He beat all 16 challengers who were Senators and Governors plus Carson and Fiorina. He reached the nomination easily and first while Hillary was still fighting Sanders. No contested convention and the Never Trump Movement has failed. He brought in a record number of new Republicans and is swaying Indies and disgruntled Sanders folks and Democrats who won't vote for Hillary. And to the idiot who called me lazy, I'm almost to 3400 parodies in little over 5 years and am the most productive parodist here AND also a Top 10 contributor. When you can match me, let me know. Of course you can't, loser.

You know, I have been wondering about the repetition of verses and choruses in parodies. Choruses are almost always repeated in the original songs and sometimes verses too as in the original song, "Hound Dogs." Is there a strict convention to follow for parodies? My thinking is that it's just a matter of what message the parody author wishes to emphasize in each song. To this reader, the lyrics work well in "Porch Dogs," especially since it follows the original song.

If a certain chorus is endlessly repeated and dominates the lyrics, then perhsps you should change it up a little. Otherwise, there's very little in the parody that's new. Morever, comedy is fundamentally about surprise. If there's nothing surprising in the lyrics, there's little that's funny. The test is .. will the change up make the thing funnier. In this case, "Porch Dog"is a pretty good burn on the intended target. Why change it?

Ah, here we go with productivity! Your excessive knockoff submissions depend on most of them being lazy quickies based on simple jingles and children's songs, which you use to repeat yesterday's cold, flat news. You have little time or regard for pacing and for the heart of parody — humor. Your blurbs are to parody what Chopsticks is to music. On second thought, spare us new words for repeated verses. Just stick to being a flak for Trump.

Go write more commentary Pseudonym Guy. I probably have more individual artists than you have total parodies if in fact you are even a parodist. Post your author page or STFU.

What?? Post my author page??? Then I won't be pseudonymous anymore! You're being totally illogical, especially you who has used dozens of pseudos. On this site, a pseudonym is any name, like "Convention setter," that has not been attached to submitted parodies. So what? The comment by a reader who doesn't have an author page is invalid? Baloney! Stop making up rules! Every time you're criticized, you first dredge up your exhaustively cross-referenced personal parody ledger as if it was the freaking Magna Carta. Then you have the colossal nerve to demand to see the pseudononymous critic's author page, though he has the right not to show it. You don't have the right to pierce anyone's Constitutionally guaranteed pseudonomynousinimity. Hey, the way things are going around here my author page could show that I'm you!! Then I'd have to kill myself. I mean you.
