The Lyrics

Each year around this time, I really get tired of "Blue Christmas" being one of the most overplayed songs. It gets to the point where we are unged to link blue lights with saddness, and it challenges us to remain able to enjoy this beautiful color. Why our language associates blue with sadness is beyond me. But I think the trend has gone so far that we definitely need an antidote like this.
I like blue lights for Christmas on my tree.
Their mystic glow entices me nightly.
Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree
Are lovely for sure, but blue tops it off for me.

And when my blue Christmas lights twinkle,
I'm in the mood to welcome Kris Krinkle.
There's no language but English in which "blue" means sad.
Demeaning so lovely a color is just bad.

So let's ditch now that "blue Christmas" sadness
And see all colors glowing in gladness.
While bright lights red and green are so fair to be seen,
It's blue that completes my merry Christmas!

Well said. I've got a blue tree at my place and I'm happy as a clam.
