The Lyrics

The Florida Everglades are being overrun by non-native snakes such as Burmese pythons. In its infinite wisdom, the state of Florida is sending armed volunteers into the swamps to capture or kill the estimated one hundred thousand constrictors. I may not be the smartest reptile in the herpatorium, but I really don't think it's a good idea to turn a bunch of untrained volunteers armed to the teeth with guns and blades loose in the Everglades. ;D

Grab your nets and sacks and guns and blades.
It's time to party in the Everglades.
So come with me 'cause I'm way out in front.
Won't you let me take you on the snake hunt?

Catch a - Burmese python.
Here are - boots to try on.
Bring your - grill to fry on.
Won't you let me take you on the snake hunt?

The snakes are crawlin'. They've no natural enemy.
The "Greens" are bawlin'. It's wrecking the ecology.

I hear there's tens of thousands, so c'mon - take a crack.
It's just like all the rabbits in the Aussie Outback.
So come with me 'cause it isn't a stunt.
Won't you let me take you on the snake hunt?

Look out! Think I got one.
Nail it - with your shotgun.
Never - had such hot fun.
Won't you let me take you on the snake hunt?

(Instrumental bridge)

I've got a twenty-footer - right here is my grasp.
I've never seen a meaner-looking giant asp.
He's the grand dad - he sure isn't a runt.
Won't you let me take you on the snake hunt?

What's the - latest countin'?
Watch our - haul keep mountin'.
Look! There's - Ponce's Fountain.(1)
Won't you let me take you on the snake hunt?

They're multiplying! Help us to control them, please.
The "Greens" are crying - they'll harm the birds and manatees!

Wave marks! Good predictor.
Grab that - big constrictor.
This time - I'm the victor.
Aren't you glad you joined me on the snake hunt?

(1) - Ponce de Leon explored Florida supposedly looking for the legendary Fountain of Youth. Two rejected takes by me on this topic were "Snake, Rattle, and Roll" and "Sssssss Wonderful, Ssssss Marvelous". ;D

Always liked that OS -maybe Florida is trying to cut down on its citizen number.

Interesting topic-555!!! I might write about snakes too, just don't know what angle yet. The LW had a WW2 aerial snake device but I don't have enough info on it (Dang!). I could write about the snake in Eden when it was a warm-blooded mammal (beats of the field) that walked upright on its hind legs and could eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil ;-)

Those things can kill you in the most horrific way, but judging by last year's events in Italy, so can sea cruises. 555 rounds, now go get 'em. Better than using your weapons on elementary schoolkids and movie-goers, that's for sure. No 'oo-wee babies'? That's the best part.
