Parody Song Title:

"Young And Hip"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Sour grapes? No, more like a fine wine aging to perfection. Twenty-five years ago, I got chewed out on a gig for singing "I'm Glad I'm Not Young Anymore." The seniors in the audience thought I was mocking them. Now I'm old enough to write parodies like this...my first significant age milestone since I became "legal" at twenty-one. ;D

'Though I've quick repartee - one thing I'll never be
That is young and hip
For my mustache is gray, and I've seen better days
I'm not young and hip
Don't know all the new songs - never used any bongs
I eat lots of Ding Dongs, and I never wear thongs
And 'though my funny parodies can pass the test
I'll never be a P-Diddy or Kanye West

For I have no cell phone, and I play the trombone
I'm not young and hip
And the X-Box? Can't play! - I've no 401K
I'm not young and hip
I eat flakes made of bran - my vacations are planned
Yet there's something quite grand just to be an old man
So I know I won't flip - I don't give a rip
If I'm not among the very young and hip!

OK, at fifty-five, I may be considered "young" by some...but never "hip." ;D

Sage thoughts from P. Ribby... Isn't it nice that you can just let a few things "slide" as you get older?

There are some things you're never too old for. At my age (though I'm not that old), I still play video games, watch cartoons, and watch childrens' movies. Excellent parody, OMR! 5's!

Deprecation is good, and very cool and hip in its own way. Good job!

I beg your pardon, but if you're 55, that means you grew up in the 60s/70s, so I'm not buying this "never used any bongs" stuff. Heck, my college sold T-shirts saying, "Pot -- It's Not Just For Breakfast Anymore".

Friend gave me T-shirt gift: "I'm not 50 -- I'm 18, with 32 years' experience". Haha, but no, thanks -- nothing more embarrassing than a 50-yr-old (male or cougar woman) trying to act 18. My sister said, "Fifty is the new Thirty". I said, "No, Fifty is the new Fifty. Get over it". Good one, OMR
