The Lyrics

Rat Pack August now salutes some true heroes of summer. Although I never played high school football, I am familiar with five words that strike terror in the hearts of young athletes..."two a day, full equipment"! (Translation: Morning and afternoon sessions in complete gear.) Keep in mind that this is American football, in which participants use extensive pads and helmets. ;D

It's the time of the year - that young footballers fear:
Time for "two a day".
In the murderous heat - they prepare to compete
If they want to play.
In the hot August sun, they will work-out and run.
It's a hundred and one, and it's surely no fun.
But if these high school students would be football lads,
They'll go again tomorrow and they'll wear full pads.

'Though their muscles are sore, they will come back for more.
Will they quit? No way!
Won't abstain, won't refrain, as they brutally train
Like a Green Beret!
It's as rough as a brawl, but they give it their all,
For they hear the coach call - "It pays off in the fall".
A big winning season - is the main reason
That they are subjected to those "two a day".

(Instrumental interlude)

Give those guys a big hand, and don't misunderstand:
There's the same tough demand - for the kids in the band.
The jocks and musicians - share these traditions.
Both groups fry in August doing "two a day".

And you thought this song was about posting multiple songs! ;D

Fives a day.

Remember when coaches thought it was unhealthy to drink water while practicing in the heat?

OMR - It's kind a like a tribute song....They do the hard work but rarely do we think about it.Most people don't pay much attention to the practices...Preperation is harder than playing the game..... but you already know that....Thanks
